The business is run by Husband and Wife (Steve and Marit Webb). Steve has been shoeing and focusing on thera

peutic shoeing for over 5 years now, having trained with some of the best farriers in Sydney. Marit is a Registered Veterinary having graduated from the University of Queensland in 2019 with honours, since focusing and specialising in equine vet practices

Marit and Steve both believe in continual education, they are always looking to expand their knowledge and improve there skills. Rhythmic Smooth n Blue is our Blue Roan Stallion who is proving to be a very capable horse currently registered with the Australian stock horse society and is eligible for dual registration with the Australian Quarter horse association. Over the next few years we hope to continue to grow and expand into a leading equine breeding and training centre.

Encouraging was taken on by us on behalf of a client and has been in moderate work, to assess and fine tune his skill level.

Encouraging has proven to be a very quiet and reliable boy. He is a poke about do anything sort of horse. He has been taken on trial rides, a muster, and hacks round well. He is showing great potential with jumping and would suit a beginner rider or pony club horse.

Easy to C,S,F. He is great to paddock with other horses.

Tidy little job from last week, very nice front hooves nice and easy to work with.

The hind hooves however take a little more time, this horse had fractured his pedal bone (coffin bone) over a year ago and was still not quite right. He had previously been shod in a steel egg bar shoe this shoeing tho equipak was suggested to provide cushioning support and shock absorption. Owners have reported a much happier moving horse!

On side note keep an eye out for that seedy tho, with the wet weather in the Riverina its every where!!

Yesterday we visited a brumby mare, she is estimated to be 4 years old and was rehomed from the national parks to a lady here in the Riverina only 5 weeks ago, the mare has had many hours of work and handling put into her by Hayley Gillard and believe it or not she is actually green broke and being ridden under saddle.

This mare however had never been handled by a man and after some time patting her and building some trust, we were able to get her front hooves trimmed up nicely, however she was not having a bar of it with the hind hooves so out came the rope!! After approximately 30 minutes (15 minutes a side) she was calm and giving to pressure nicely and allowing us under her hind limbs to perform a much-needed tidy up.

Whilst it’s a common phrase “its not the farriers job to train the horse” at the same time it is, it doesn’t mean you have to do it for free but if you can help you clients (the horses) learn to stand and give to pressure it will make you’re job easier in the years to come with out the need of costly sedations every 6 weeks.

This horse was seen yesterday after recently being purchased by his new owner.

He was extremely long in the toe and very “flat footed”, particularly on his offside.

We set his breakover back to a reasonable length whilst this does create a “bullnose” on the toe that will grow out in time. The main goal of the shoeing was getting the toe back and getting him “stood up”. This was all achieved with a standard concave shoe.
It is an old school belief that farriers are not to trim or shoe past the white line; in a healthy, well balanced hoof this is true. The white line is your guide for a trim or shoeing, however, in a hoof that is considered unhealthy the white line can and will stretch and deform which is when we use more stable markers in the hoof to determine our shoe placement.

Benefits to this shoe placement are:
• We adjust the palmar angles naturally with no use of wedged shoes or pads
• Balances point of articulation
• Reduces strain to the flexor tendons and joints, mitigating the risk of navicular disease and arthritis

Cons:
• Bringing the toe back so far in one shoeing can weaken the structural integrity of the hoof wall, this is minimised with the placement of a shoe and regular cycles.

For those of you that follow this page know it has been a Farrier's Business page, however we continue to grow and life moves forwards so does our business.

Rhythmic Smooth N Blue had a great weekend. Started of a little fresh after coming back in from his well deserved spell but soon got back into the rhythm of things and had a very successful weekend.
