It is critical that you do things on a planned, calculated timeline that is right for your puppies. Here at Happy Tails we follow our pups developmental benchmarks to determine if they are ready to move forward or even take a step back. Listening and empowering our puppies is key to success.

It’s not just about exposing puppies to new things, it’s about how we do it and when we do it.

When doing our curriculum we align it to the developmental benchmarks of our puppies, we are purposeful and intentional with our handling, which helps increase touch tolerance, and we ensure that we meet their needs in order to continue having balanced and fulfilled dogs.

It’s not just a program but a method.
One that truly makes a difference for our puppies success throughout their life.

Ari is 4 weeks old! Our beautiful Cavapoo singleton is showing her strength, resiliency and determination in all that she does. She has worked through daily challenges, handling exercises, sound desensitization and socialization. Ari has graduated to a toddler area and is exposed to different novelty toys everyday. We are still on simple, non-moving toys so she feels safe and free to explore these items. Ari is a dream snuggler. Her teeth have broken through now and is loving her puppy mush. We are regularly trimming her nails (for desensitization, as well as for protecting Mom…they are super sharp ☺️) Dizzi is the best Mama and still cleans up her pup like a champ. These four weeks have flown by, I can’t believe we are already halfway until she goes to her new home and forever family. We love this little girl!!

This is our beautiful, standard poodle, Sunny. I am planning to breed her with our F1 Cavapoo Stud, Red in 2023. I am researching the demand for their pups currently, if you or anyone you know, may be interested in a medium size F1b Cavapoo, please let me know. F1 Cavapoo. What does that mean…you ask? The F1 means that this pup is the first generation from a Poodle bred to a King Charles Cavalier. In our case this is Ari. (Pronounced R-E) Her dad is Rudy our tri-color King Charles Cavalier stud. Her Mom is Dizzi, our brindle Miniature Poodle. We paired these two to produce beautiful, healthy, well tempered puppies. Cavapoo’s are incredible dogs. Wonderful family pups. Very smart, playful, snuggly and easily trained breed. I love this so much. I’m so grateful for all that Jeanette has done for other breeders.

It’s been 3 (almost 4 years?) years since I started mentoring other breeders and what an amazing journey so far. My book has sold over 6k copies (a book I wrote and published myself hoping to sell 100), I have been asked to speak at conferences, have hosted my own seminars, teach online classes, have a private Facebook group of over 4k, and developed the first ever software for breeders to run their Empowered Breeder program.

It’s not always been easy. It’s been scary sometimes actually. It’s hard to be vulnerable. To take backlash, death threats and judgement. It’s easy to second guess yourself and want to retreat. Because that’s safe and easy.

But what keeps me going is the amazing breeders I’ve met on this journey. They too were searching and wanting a safe place to learn, make mistakes and level up. They too believed there was more we could do for our dogs.

Empowering our puppies, educating our clients, raising the standards of health testing and care and giving our puppies a voice in their placement is so important.

Our dogs take care of our mental health all of the time, so we owe it to them to meet their needs, communicate correctly with them, respect them for who they are and be a trusting and loving leader.

Seeing other breeders live out my program as their own is humbling and incredible all at the same time.

What an honor it is to stand here and share this journey with you as I devote my life to doing more for our dogs.

This is the goal! Great Breeders stand by their puppies. 🐾

Imagine if all breeders were responsible for every puppy they produced for the lifetime of the dog. If at anytime, if you could not keep the dog, you could return it to the breeder. NOT a shelter or rescue. Imagine how this would change the way breeding and buying is done and in turn how many dogs' lives would be saved.

These beauties are so amazing!! We just love having them in our home and each of their personalities. Sunny was groomed this week and was just raved about how incredible she is. Her temperament is absolutely everything a home could want! She is gentle, loving, driven to please her humans and is soooo soooo soft. Her coat is heavenly!! She’s almost a year and a half old!!

“Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!” It’s a LIFESAVING tool! I just heard from one of my puppy families and it worked perfectly!
I imprint on my puppies from birth until go home day, that when they hear those three magical words, if they come running to me they will earn a huge reward!! I send home information for my puppy families to keep up this amazing tool and it will pay off!!

I’m so happy to hear that Hazel “Poppy” from Dizzi’s Spring flowers litter came right back to her mama in an unsafe situation when she heard her call “Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!”

I can’t believe these pups are 7 weeks old today!! We had a fun day with baths and blow drys. Their personalities are shining through and are just so pleasant to be around. We have a big week ahead with a vet visit for go home clearances, evaluations and a puppy pick party. The first three pups are still available. I have lots of people interested but nothing finalized. Searching for guardian families! 🐾 🐾
But what IS a guardian family? 💗
In order to grow my breeding program and have the best living environments for my dogs, I have guardian families.

I wish I could keep every puppy🐾🐾, but I also know it would be selfish of me because I have limited time to spend with each pup that I keep. The answer to this predicament is to partner with wonderful families or individuals. Guardians help our breeding dogs have happy, healthy lives. We work together to raise amazing, healthy dogs and provide a loving family for a dog with a job! They get a premium quality dog as a pet and an open book trainer to help them in any eventuality.

Guardians are basically like normal pet owners, but their pet has a job only every once in a while. After they are done with their job, we here at Happy Tails pay to have them spayed or neutered and their pet remains with them forever!

There are requirements in order to become a guardian family. We want to make sure that our pups have healthy long lives ahead of them.💗
