Happy Friday! 🐾❤️

As you know, we are currently on intake hold and focusing on raising funds to pay down our veterinary expenses and get back on track.

We are planning for a large fundraising event in October (more info to come 🤗).
I originally thought without a doubt that we would have to remain on intake hold until after our event in October.

Thanks to the generosity of so many of our followers and to an incredibly kind-hearted, anonymous donor of $5K, that may not be the case.

If we can raise an additional $5,000 via Facebook, we will be able to come off of intake hold and continue helping the dogs that need us.

$5,000 feels daunting but if 1,000 of our over 7,000 followers donated just $5, we would be there.

So, my ask on this $5 Friday is for you to consider skipping the Starbucks and throw a few bucks towards our vetting fund instead.

It would literally mean the world to SO many dogs.

Long post ahead but we appreciate you taking the time to read! ❤️

As many of our followers know, our organization is struggling, like most non profit animal rescues right now. There’s no question that the pet over population problem is in full blown crisis mode.

I (Allison), as the founder of SFCR feel as if I’ve failed the organization by letting our debt become so daunting. It doesn’t feel good having to ask for monetary donations more often than not.

Our rescue is extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful veterinary team standing behind us. They provide exceptional care to our rescue pups and are always there when we need them. Previously, we would pay our entire vet balance in full at the end of the month. Over the past several months, we haven’t been able to pay the balance in full so we’ve had a few thousand overlapping into the next month, each month. This has resulted in a substantial balance that we really need to get paid. It is so important that we maintain the relationship we have as rescue cannot continue without a vet team.

We have mentioned intake hold in the past and stuck with it for a short period but the fact of the matter is that we need to remain on intake hold until we raise at least $10,000.00 to put towards our veterinary debt (we’ve already raised $2,500 on a previous post - thank you ❤️). It is so hard to say no to so many dogs innocently waiting for their turn. However, intake hold has to happen if we ever wish to get caught up and rescue on.

I also really want to provide some clarification on a few things.

Our website is not an accurate representation of the number of dogs we are currently caring for. We do not list dogs on our website until they are ready or close to being ready for adoption. Many of our dogs require extra time in foster care to decompress, build confidence, and learn about life in a home. We also have a thorough vetting process that simply takes time.
We are happy to share our veterinary statements with anyone who might inquire - we spend an astronomical amount of money caring for our rescues and have absolutely nothing to hide.

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization. None of us are paid for the endless hours we put into rescue. We also have full time jobs, families, and other commitments that require our attention.
If we don’t respond to your inquiry immediately, please don’t take offense. We are all doing the very best we can and are extremely overwhelmed these days.
Also, our goal is not to adopt out a dog to the very first person to inquire. It is far more important to us that our dogs go to the right homes. Homes that they will succeed in. We NEVER euthanize for space.

Please consider a donation to help us get back on our feet and continue to assist the many dogs that need us. Every donation matters and makes a difference.

*Update - Leah is out of surgery and recovering comfortably. Dr. George is very pleased with how everything went. Yay! ❤️🐾

Our sweet Leah has checked in to Animal Emergency & Referral Center for her life-saving heart procedure (balloon valvuloplasty).

She is currently in surgery and we are asking for all the prayers and good vibes for a successful outcome that we can get ❤️

We feel as if we are on a sinking ship 💔

Our veterinary balance has hit $18K. All charges incurred within the last 6 weeks or so.

It has been another crazy month - we have over 40 dogs in rescue at this time and another 20 anxiously waiting for their turn to be welcomed.

Shelters and rescues everywhere are full, overflowing, and completely maxed out.

We have to keep things sustainable and right now they are not. We desperately need your help getting back on track so that we aren’t faced with the only option being to discontinue the work that we do.

We need your support now more than ever.
Please consider a tax deductible donation today. All donations go directly towards our current veterinary bill.

Several sweet faces made their way to SFCR yesterday afternoon and we have an ask on this $5 Friday.

Several of the pups arrived with severe matting and in dire need of grooming. We will likely spend close to $500 on grooming alone for these 7 deserving pups.

We would greatly appreciate any and all donations to put towards grooming and vetting expenses for these newbies.

JoJo is a very handsome Cavachon who was surrendered to SFCR due to his family being heavily affected by the flooding.

JoJo is 15 months old, crate trained, and working on his housetraining. He is recovering from his neuter surgery and ready to find that special family of his very own!

Holly is a timid little girl who is looking for a patient and loving family.

She is still learning that she is safe and that human hands are loving and kind. She wants so badly to be loved on. She is just learning about toys but thinks they are pretty amazing to carry around as she runs in the yard. She is wonderful with other dogs and would do best with at least one other confident dog in the home to help guide her.

Holly is crate trained and working on her housetraining.
