Dezy becomes a racehorse again!
Take away from most recent clinic - if your horse bucks at your leg, GALLOP! Bucking at your leg can be an evasion of the work, and getting behind the aids. I have struggled with my mare kicking and bucking for years! Today the clinician had me gallop her every time she bucked, and amazingly everything got better 🙌🏻 I even got a clean flying change! So, it may not be the answer all the time, but for now if Dezy bucks she is going to gallop!
Canter —> walk —> canter
Working on collection in the canter to a walk transition back to canter for better flying changes 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Jack - Quarter horse gelding, is learning to accept contact and move away from the leg. Such a great little horse and is so smart
Indy - 9 year old thoroughbred came to the farm a little over a month ago, and has made so much progress with accepting contact and yielding from the inside leg! Super kind horse who likes to have a job. Excited to see how he continues to progress! Whiskey Wind Farm
Viktor - a 23 year old Hungarian Warmblood came into my life a few weeks ago. He has been out of consistent work for a while, but slowly I am bringing some fitness back into his life. He seems happy to be working and tries really hard. Hopeful to take this big guy down centerline this summer 🤞🏻
Broke out the Pivo to check in on our progress! As Dezy and I approach second level, I am trying to find ways to productivity help her with her tension. When she gets tense, her stride gets shorter and uneven, but when she becomes straight and aligned her stride gets longer and more balanced. We have started to really use a bit of over flexion and bend to help move her neck and rib cage around, which as a result is also helping to straighten her. The past few rides she has been happily chewing on the bit and more accepting in her body 🙂
Starting to develop a more uphill trot! It’s a great feeling to feel her lifting her shoulders 🙂
Day 2 we had much more softness and move ability. Typlical TB - she loves a job but still struggles with being reliable. Great weekend filled with learning!!
Dezy is struggling with a left hind weakness, but ultimately we have to keep training and keep strengthening. She was a superstar in day 1 of our clinic this weekend. I’m so happy with how we are progressing 🤗
This horse loves his Bemer sessions 😴 he is by nature a nervous horse and his therapy sessions really seem to help him relax and warm up his muscles!
This horse’s canter is so dreamy 🥰 Dezy has a tendency to rush instead of listening to the half halt and using herself correctly. Today we did lot of transitions- walk, trot, and canter and it really helped her to slow down and pick herself up. First show of the season next week 🤞🏻🤞🏻
