The Pink Oyster (Pleurotus djamor)

I love growing these! We got a huge flush last week and our grow room was a bright and vibrant pink! They taste great chopped up and fried in butter, or even better, bacon grease! Makes a nice little meaty meat replacement!

Harvest day at Humongous Fungus Mushroom Farms! This is what we mean when we say our fungus is humongous!

This is the Yellow Oyster! They grow from a single stalk then fan out into several smaller mushrooms.

They remind me of a coral reef! Mushrooms are so cool🍄

Compost post! It's that time of year, and people are ramping up their gardens. Did you know that spent mushroom blocks (what we use to fruit our mushrooms) make excellent compost? We love that we are able to have zero waste on our farm and we have lots of extra to go around! If you would like some free fresh compost for your garden, reach out to us, we love to give back to our community in anyway we can ♥️🍄

We have or first batch of Chestnut Mushrooms! This unique mushroom maintains a particular texture after cooking, almost crunchy, with mild earthy flavors and a peppery note!

Seared in butter and garlic, it makes a nice crunchy topping on salads. Plays well in cremes, sauces and broths!

Let's talk Oyster mushrooms!🍄 Although there are many different varieties of Oyster mushroom, many of which we carry here at Humongous Fungus, today we're featuring Blue Oyster and Brow Oyster Mushrooms. Oyster mushrooms are incredibly good for you! Not only are they a great source of protein and fibre but they're also high in iron, zinc, potassium (we see you keto people), phosporus, selenium, calcium, folic acid, Vitamins B1, B3, B5, B12, Vitamin C and Vitamin D. Once they are cooked, they have a mild nutty, seafood-like flavour and have a soft, slightly chewy texture.

Hello folks! We are full steam ahead! Take a look at this beautiful, humongous brown oyster mushroom! Weighed in at over 0.8kg, just under 2 lbs. I should have harvested it about half a day earlier but it will be just as tasty... Its is very exciting to be able to make these amazing mushrooms available to our local community.
