🌿 Mosquito Repellent Oil 🌿

The kids came in and told me we had ripe beautyberries! I’ve been on the lookout for these to make a mosquito repellent for weeks now and had completely forgotten we planted some along the fence line last year.

Beautyberry leaves have been shown to naturally repel mosquitoes, thanks to their special compounds like callicarpenal. I picked a few leaves to create an all-natural and very effective mosquito repellent. It’s simple to do at home if you have access to beautyberry leaves—just infuse them in oil and add some essential oils for extra protection and a lovely scent.

Here’s the simple recipe if you want to make it yourself:

1/4 cup beautyberry leaf-infused oil
20 drops lemongrass essential oil
10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
12 drops lavender essential oil
Just combine these ingredients, and you’ve got yourself a natural, effective mosquito repellent!

So things got a little bit wild and overgrown.

I'll be posting my progress on cleaning up this mess.

However I was able to collect a whole bunch of Spanish needle and I am super excited.

For those of you who don't know Spanish needle is edible and incredibly nutritious, the seeds can be used as a topical analgesic, and the dried leaves can be used as a to***co substitute.

It occurred to me that I have never had a party. I haven't been at a point where I felt stable enough in the future. Now that I'm at the most uncertain point in my life... I realize that it doesn't matter.

I am going to party on Saturday August 31st. It will either be a victory housewarming party or a last hurray! No matter which we are going to have a blast.

So, props to Kush for bringing the best gift a cat has ever brought me. A snuggly, domestic (maybe) bird... No birds were harmed in the bringing of this gift! Slight injury to the wing that is unrelated to his rescue.

We got the bestest cat!
