Winter was difficult. Projects, growth, and progress halted. Very grateful for warmer spring days and for the re-emergence of life and activity around us. This little wood sorrel is strong and already blooming. May it be a sign of a prosperous and bountiful year ahead.

Simple, cheap, delicious meal with shelf stable ingredients.
1 leek (from our market garden) sliced
1 small turnip with greens (from our market garden) thinly sliced.
4 potatoes (around $2 for a 3 lb bag) diced
1 garlic clove with chives (market garden)
1 half stick butter($2 a lb, easily stays good without refrigeration for several days, over a month with a water crock)
Saute all of those together. Until the leaks are soft and the potatoes are starting to Brown.
Mix in 1/2 lb penne ($2 for a 1lb pack) and enough water to cover.
Boil for about 10 minutes or instant pot for five.
Stir in grated or shredded parmesan cheese (half of a $3 container of grated, half of a $2 pack of shredded, grated Parmesan when properly stored will dry)
Let it rest for a few minutes to thicken into to a creamy sauce.

Cold days have a way of shutting things down around here.

Projects pause. The pace softens. There’s a little more time to slow down, relax, and even scroll a bit.

I came across this Red Cross basket from Dresden & Company and paused—not because it’s pretty (though it is), but because it’s purposeful. A simple, well-made place for first aid and everyday care items. A portion of each basket also supports the American Red Cross, which aligns closely with my work as a certified trainer.

Days like this are easier when you’re already stocked, already prepared. When what you need is close at hand, you can actually rest instead of react.

Charitable. Beautiful. Useful.

That feels right for this season.

Recently I started a venture as a Proprietor with Dresden & Company!

Their mission is simple: Life Made Better — and that’s exactly what drew me in. Dresden & Company offers a thoughtfully curated collection of handcrafted baskets, pottery, home décor, and gourmet foods, all created with care, intention, and a strong commitment to Made in America.

What makes Dresden & Company truly special?
🌟 They partner directly with skilled artisans across Ohio and the U.S.
🌟 Many products are handmade by generations of family-owned businesses.
🌟 They are a boutique brand rooted in community, craftsmanship, and useful beauty.

👉 If you’d like to support me as I get started, here are a few easy ways:
• Take a look at my shop: Link in comment
• Host an online party — it’s fun, simple, and hosts earn half-price products
• Share my link with anyone who loves supporting small businesses and American-made goods

Thank you so much for cheering me on and supporting craftsmanship that still means something 🇺🇸💛

Woke up to snow!

Like some real life video game, the new place came with lots of nature and lots of junk from the previous resident. It's a lot of work and it's going to cost some money to get everything hauled away. So we are burning what we can. There is something so rewarding about that part of the process. Cleansing through fire! Still a long ways to go but these moments by the fire I feel the progress.

In Viva pinata you just have to hit the debris that's left behind with a shovel. In real life it takes a little more effort 😂
