A quiet, foggy morning in the Santa Monica Mountains. Our first time here, and there are wildflowers everywhere right now. We even saw a hummingbird at 3k ft!
May gray, but you stay blooming. 🌸
This weekend we took advantage of cooler mornings and clear skies to overlook Los Angeles from the . This wasn’t a long hike (less than 3 miles), but it was very steep. A perfect workout for the girls! And as you can see, it was all smiles at the top. 😃
Our first views of the Hollywood sign. 😍
🐾 patrol.
We’re officially California residents. ❤️
We made it to Arizona, and we finally crossed Horseshoe Bend off of our bucket list! Old dogs, new tricks. ☺️
Happy 14th birthday to the goober herself, Ava. 🥳 14 years of adventures and belly laughs. Your legs might be slower now, but your heart is still as wild as ever.
(& happy Easter to all those who are celebrating.)
You deserve a wild love from a gentle soul. ❤️
This morning we slept in — all of us — and we woke up to a sea of white. Today marks the first snow of the season below the front range. We did some runs and made doggie angels outside. And now we’re bundling up watching Friends reruns. Today has been a really good day. ❤️
It’s been quite some time since we’ve gotten to experience a *true* fall season, so we weren’t going to miss it this year. We packed up the car and headed to Breckinridge, where the Aspen trees were shining like seas of gold — before the weekend traffic arrived! 😅 Grateful we got to see them and soak up the autumn air.
…with the wind on her back and the world at her feet.
Happy …to all the souls that make life so much sweeter. ❤️🐾
To my soul dog, Maya:
The day our worlds collided was the day I felt awakened with a new sense of being. You were quite the wrecking ball, in the best and most meaningful ways. Challenging me to commit to a routine, and to want better for myself. Shifting my perspective on what it really means to hold time, space, and empathy for others. Being present in the moment. It’s easy to talk about any or all of these things, but it’s life-changing when you really learn to practice and live by them. I have you to thank for this, and for so much goodness that has come into my life. Sometimes I think to myself, “If only she knew..”
I hope you do know how much I love you, and how much pride and joy I feel when I look at you. What I would give to have this feeling for forever…
For now, I’m embracing this moment. There you are, quietly and patiently gazing over another mountain top while the sun climbs above the horizon. The light is hitting the tips of your fur, and you look like an angel.
It goes without saying, most if not all of my happiest memories are with you. I can only hope that you’ve felt the same joy and sense of adventure over the years. For however long we have together, you will always be my soul dog. Happy 14th birthday, Maya Bear. I love you so much, it hurts. ❤️
Smiles from our new backyard. Colorado is treating us well. 🏠🏔️❤️

Still eating mountains for breakfast. 😍
Happy Valentine’s Day from our family to yours. ❤️

Well, we are moving again….to Denver! We are going to miss our friends and neighbors in Texas so much, but we can’t wait to get back to the mountains. ❤️🏔
We’ll never know how far reaching the ripple effects of our actions will be, but we can choose how we show up in the world. ✨
✨ Some people spend their whole lives trying to figure out what “home is”. For us, it’s not a single place per se, but that compilation of feelings we get when we’re in nature — connection, wonder, reflection, and understanding. And with a passion for nature comes greater ethical awareness. Removing trash along hikes and rivers, recycling, and being mindful of protecting wildlife are simple acts of kindness that anyone can take part in — none of which are too sma
With that, we’re proud to participate in this year’s North Texas Giving Day, which is powered by Communities Foundation of Texas and Amazon.com. is the largest regional giving event in the U.S., where donors can support their favorite causes — with financial donations, time and/or volunteer work — to help create a more vibrant North Texas!
This year, we’ll be supporting Clear Lakes Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the environmental quality of lakes throughout Texas by removing trash and debris from shorelines. We live on a lake that’s managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the girls absolutely love it. We generally let the big sticks remain 😉, but always make it a point to leave the shoreline better than when we got there. It’s not only for their safety/our enjoyment, but also to protect the wildlife nearby (everything from fish yo coyotes and riders with their horses on the horse trail!). What are you passionate about?
Give with purpose to as many organizations as you want here: https://cftexas.mvk.co/2iv7p
NTX Giving Day officially happens on September 22, 2022, but it’s never too early to give (you’re welcome to start now). ❤️

To the best partners in life and adventure a girl could ask for, happy ! ❤️🐾
Bittersweet, we officially have a teenager in the house 🥹. Happy 13th birthday to you, sweet Maya. ❤️
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow." - Melody Beattie

So sad to hear about all of the wildfires (and human instigated ones) that are plaguing the PNW right now. Ash was falling all day yesterday in the Tacoma area; it looked as if cars were covered in a snow dusting, and the air smelled fire - and not in a burning chimney kind of way. Mother Nature feels angry all over the country right now though. Are thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the fire in Glacier, MT, those recovering from #HurricaneHarvey, as well as those preparing for the string of hurricanes along the Florida coast. Please be safe, friends! 🙏🏻 #AdventureAndAwareness
