It was a bitter sweet goodbye to Valor this morning. We’ve enjoyed the extra time we got to spend with him after competition. This handsome boy will never be forgotten.
We are excited for his new life in Southern California where he gets to enjoy the amazing weather and his great new family. They hit the jackpot with this guy!

Update on Valor after show and auction.
He found his forever home in California with Kristin Connor and her family! It is bittersweet but we are so happy with the family that got him! We get to keep him another month until they can make the journey up here to get him. We are excited to have that extra bit of time with him!

He’s hanging out with his buddies in the pasture today enjoying the sun and getting dirty! He is way more friendly with our dogs comparing to our other horses.
Isaiah is still going to be working with him until he leaves.

Today is the day Valor finds a new home. This day will be filled with many emotions. A day Isaiah has been preparing for for 113 days. But, it wont be easy.
Isaiah (and his family) were not prepared to fall in love with this little guy. He’s the sweetest, goofiest guy, with a huge personality and we pray his next family loves him as much as we do. He’s brought Isaiah so much joy. Isaiah feels so lucky to have been the one to start Valor and show him the domesticated life ain’t so bad. Valor will be missed.

Just over 100 days out of the wild! Nerves were high but Valor did amazing! The judge complimented Isaiah on his composure even through the hard stuff. Pool noodles are scary, though.

One thing we didn’t think about when Isaiah chose Valor for a winter competition, was how the heck were we going to keep him clean for show. Today we finally got a warm day and the sun was shining so Valor got his first bath! It took him a few to figure out he likes the water. He’s not to sure about they water under his belly but he tolerated it just fine. The next few days will be sunny and warm so Isaiah will be scrubbing this guy down daily to get him show ready! He sure is a pretty horse! One week till we are heading to Albany fair grounds for the show!

Isaiah with his first BLM Mustang from Stinkingwater and his second, Valor the south steens mustang. We really do wish we could keep them all but the next best thing is giving them a great start and the opportunity to find a loving home.
Valor will be available at the Albany horse expo on March 26th at the live auction. Don’t forget to get your BLM applications in to bid! Valor will not disappoint! He is healthy and has a solid foundation!

We made a trip out to see the farrier today and Valor hauled like a champ! We made many stops on the way back and he sat quietly every time. Even with his rowdy hauling buddy, Chance.

So sometime overnight this baby boy got himself in quite the predicament. The hose must have been left hanging on his fence after his water got filled yesterday. This playful dude also ripped the American flag off the wall in the barn.
***He was not hurt and the hose came off easily.

Valor and Isaiah worked up quite a sweat today! A barn friend offered up their cooling blanket to help dry Valor off. He didn’t care one bit about it! He loved the massages he got from Isaiah.

Today was the first day Valor acted like a wild horse with no training 🤭. He also slipped his halter while being cross tied. We are glad he didn’t see the 3 open doors and decide he wanted to stretch his legs outside. 😬

I thought I’d share a bit about Isaiah, Valors trainer and how he got involved with T&OM.
Isaiah is 12 years old and has loved horses since he was a baby. He’s never wavered in what he wants to do when he grows up. Horses have always been his number one focus. He had ridden many times on trails but didn’t get into lessons until he was 10. He started lessons at the Fitzgeralds 2 years ago and started roping with Josh not long after. We had heard about Teens And Oregon Mustangs of course from
being at the Fitzgeralds but had no desire to train a mustang. We already had a Yakima reserve c**t we weren’t entirely sure on what do do with. 😅
Right before pick up day of last competition I was seeing Erica post about extra horses for the challenge and so I text her asking if Isaiah could join. I TEXT HER ON PICK UP DAY! So my husband and I asked Isaiah if he wanted to train a mustang after Erica said yes. He had no idea what he was getting in to but he was up for the challenge! Ten minutes later we were out the door on our way to fill out paperwork and pick up a horse!
Isaiah got an amazing strawberry roan filly from Stinkingwater and we all fell in love with her. We knew she was staying with us. Isaiah learned so much working with her with the help of Erica, Josh and many other veteran mustang trainers at the Fitzgeralds.
At the competition last September Isaiah placed 4th in overall for the teens in hand division! He did such an amazing job with Jasmine! Even though we knew we were keeping her and he could have pulled out of the competition, Isaiah did not! He wanted to experience it and see how well he could do.
After competition Jasmine was put out to pasture to just be a horse for a while and Isaiah decided to work with our other wild horse. Chance, the sorrel, is nothing like Jasmine and much more reactive. Once Isaiah gained his trust he will do anything for him. Through Isaiah’s work with Chance we have discovered that this wild boy who would jump at everything is going to be a great horse.

So technically Valor is the 3rd mustang Isaiah is training at the young age of 12! He believes in this program and has grown so much from it! He thought he was truly blessed with such an easy going horse with Jasmine and he expected a harder mustang this time. That doesn’t seem to be the case. Although, Valor and Jasmine are very different Valor seems to be coming along pretty darn quick. Isaiah also has more experience too. Valor has a great mind and is going to make someone such a good horse!
