I love the breed, but any dynamic in any dog household requires careful attention. There are signs, behaviors. Multiple dog families should be aware, it's more common then you know. You are more likely to find a support group for the loss of a child, then "My dogs killed my other dog". There's guilt attached to it. Selfishness maybe. As the sole advocate for your babies, it's an unbearable shame. Dogs that sleep and play together one day, will kill an older dog, in some cases a puppy, the next. NEVER trust an animal to be more then an animal in the end. The biggest heartache besides the loss is the sting of reality that in the end they are not your babies, they are animals. The biggest thing i hear trainors always say is remember its a dog, stop treating them like a child. Dogs follow each other. Pack instinct i could say kicks in. This post is to advocate for the littles. To give them a voice because they were here first. And having put several of these large magnificent creatures out into the world I feel morally obligated to make sure you remember, they are just that, animals. PLEASE be careful. For Keyton and Ashley. My first loves.

Like people, dogs look like their parents. Eye spacing, ear shape and tilt, shape of heads. It's been fun to see pups later and see differences. Gravity is built like her mom. Narrow, not a truck like her dad. However..everything else..from the eye spacing to the quirky ear...daddies girl. Pure baby Epic.
