Arizona Police Issue 'Turquoise Alert' for Missing and Endangered Teen
Authorities in Mesa, Arizona, have issued a statewide Turquoise Alert in an urgent effort to locate 16-year-old Yolyn Hermios. The alert system is specifically used for missing individuals under 65 who have disappeared under unexplained or suspicious circumstances.
Hermios was last seen around 6:50 p.m. local time on Saturday, November 1, near Broadway Road and Dobson Road. She is described as a Pacific Islander teen, 4 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, with brown hair featuring green faded highlights and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing red shorts, a black shirt, and black shoes.
The teenager's family has expressed deep concern, stating that it is "out of character" for her to be gone for an extended period without contact. Police are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to her safe and expedient recovery.
The Turquoise Alert system, also known as Emily's Law, was established in Arizona to aid in the recovery of missing and endangered persons who meet specific criteria, excluding typical runaways unless aggravating factors are present.
