Howie update...
He has fractures in his tibia and paw that are old and have healed and been aggravated likely from the walking and jogging. Maybe even falling off the bed like he does. It's disheartening because he enjoys walking and hearing him cry in pain at night makes me so sad for him. It also delays his search for a home😢 the plan of action is rest. Pain meds and see what happens. They don't feel there is much to do at this point. We can revisit later if we need to. His blood work and other testing will be back in a couple of days.

Wasn't the best news for tater. 😭 but we are going to FIGHT because she is WORTH IT!
She has Rectovaginal fistula with anal atresia ...Dr Heather at Animal Hospital Of the Sierra is going to reach out to some surgeons for us🙏 also her pelvis is malformed part of the short spine syndrome. Once we know more from a surgeon we will know what our next step is. We need your prayers! Tater needs us to fight! We are also looking for a medical foster in the Coarsegold/Oakhurst area. She just a wittle baby and will need her behind wiped and cleaned. Please pm if you are interested 😊
Tater is our newest short spine dog. She is 4 month old and has an exposed rectum. Her legs seem to be luxating or hip is out of socket🥺. She is FULL of life and we are commited to giving her a fighting chance. We are here at Animal Hospital Of the Sierra in Oakhurst to get her xrays blood work etc. From there we will see what needs to be done to help her and decide if we are the right rescue for her. This is definitely beyond anything we have dealt with before this is going to be costly. With only 32 short spine cases world wide im praying followers will share and donate to our girl! Please share and donate if you can. We are a very small but commited rescue. We take on hard cases because the support that rallies behind us. 🙏🙌

An update on Topher now Angular. We hear he is an official Mussel dog. What a wonderful opportunity this was for our rescue to learn about. Topher was a hard dog to let go of. We have never not adopted out to a home. Joining the world of working breed dogs was new for us. This association and the people who helped made it easy for us to trust the process. 💗

Well guys Topher did amazing. He found the ball everytime and never gave up even on the huge rubble piles. They say his temperament is remarkable and they fell in love. Unfortunately that was not enough. While doing the rubble search he was unsure and he hesitated a little too much which for search and rescue of natural disaster is an automatic fail. It's not something that can be worked out of a dog. That's the bad news. The good news is he was assessed by professionals and they qualified him as a police dog or scent work tracking. For sports he would do well dock diving should he be adopted it would need to be into a sports home such as this. In the meantime we will work on networking him out to organizations who run these types of programs. We want to go the distance for him and we won't give up. Thank you for the support for Topher this experience has been amazing and it's not over yet.🙌🫶
Well the update on Whitney is not good. She had been suffering so long she was FULL of infection. Her body was ravaged with something no one could see until we got in there to take a look. I won't go into the gory details but mid surgery we decided we had to let her fly. Once again we are left with heartache. I spent hours coordinating her rescue only to find out there would be none. It's hard to say had she been taking in earlier at first signs of pain if she may have been saved..there was so much damage to her insides..her poor 6.5 lb body. The vet did say they were amazed at her tenacity for the state she was in. She was a good dog and fought till the end. My only regret was that I had not drove down myself to meet her..I thought there would be enough of that on the other side of surgery. Fly high sweet Whitney. We will take care of Lucky and bring you home to him.
