Well, it’s a wrap… and it’s official!

Journey took FIRST in Open Master division Distance Jump in her debut on the NADD Nationals scene!

Layla snagged SIXTH in Veteran Junior division Air Retrieve and FOURTH in Topaz H.AR.D Charger in her retirement trip to Nationals!

So many happy tears and good memories this week… thank you to everyone who was so supportive, who cheered for us and cried those happy tears right along with us… wasn’t even sure I wanted to do this trip this year, but BOY AM I GLAD WE DID!!!!

It’s not about the wins or the ribbons…. This is about 2 little dogs who wanted nothing more than to play the game with their humans, gave it their all and left it all on the dock… now it’s time for that long ride home and a well deserved break for Journey & Layla!

“I might not be as flashy as Jumping J but mom says I am her very best girl and I don’t have to be flashy… I have earned my stripes and got to be a ‘Veteran Finalist’ twice here in Springfield (I may have had a senior moment in one of the finals this morning but mom said that was OK)!”

It's a wrap & it's OFFICIAL! Team Freak-N-Powderface are headed to Springfield, MO for North America Diving Dogs Nationals in October!

We took a "little" road trip to the Canadian Prairie Regionals at the Dog Dock on the Bay in St. Andrews, Manitoba. We met so many wonderful people and had an amazing time! It was a little breezy the day we jumped, but Journey & Layla jumped their hearts out and came home with invites and we couldn't be more proud!!

1st Place Veteran Junior Division Air Retrieve

Journey:
2nd Place Open Master Division Distance
and... a new title in Air Retrieve!

Thank you to the crew at the dock who did everything they could to make the event FUN! We can't wait to go back!

Thank you to Becky Norlander and Three Hounds Training Ground - without you, we would not be able to consistently achieve the way we have throughout the years! You were there at the beginning of my dock diving career and have always been my safe haven for training, keeping my goals realistic and my dogs best interests at heart!

Nationals here we come!!! The countdown is on!

That moment when invite #6 rolls in and it means that 2 wonderful dogs EACH HAVE THREE INVITES to NADD Regionals ❤️

I'll just be over here in the corner crying happy tears that my 9 1/2 year old veteran jumper, Layla, is going to get to play in all three disciplines this year... We have been to regionals and nationals many times together, but for some reason, it means so much more this year.

I'm over the moon that 3 year old Journey gets to go for all three disciplines as well! She has come so far and worked so hard and the best is, likely, yet still to come for this little girl.

Live life with no regrets... get the puppy, do all the things with them when they are young, cherish the senior moments with them while you can!

So I have officially (and very lovingly) named this dynamic duo: Team Freak-N-Powderface!

(Layla has extremely judgemental thoughts about the name and having to wait for another 2 months for regionals, but hang a bumper in front of her face and she will change her tune just a little bit!)

Thank you to Three Hounds Training Ground in Plymouth for ALWAYS being so supportive of our training direction and goals. The reason Layla is still jumping at 9 1/2 is really due to all of your direction and guidance. The reason Journey can jump at all is because you were in on this from the beginning ❤️

So we all know that the Sirius Poetry page was hijacked a few weeks ago and I am still working on getting my page back to being about dogs instead of watches! I am working with FB to get the page name back to "Sirius Poetry", and hopefully that change will happen SOON!

The recovery process has been difficult and life has taken some odd turns in the last couple of weeks, so I have not even had a chance to look at all of the photos from our recent AKC Fetch event, but I had to have this gem IMMEDIATELY......... Silly Mercury

Celebrating National Puppy Day a day late with "Beauty & the Beast"... 2 very different dogs, playing the same game!

While both Layla & Journey are all about the dock diving games, Layla is all "poise & polish" after having been at this game for 8 years, but at 9 1/2 shows no signs of wanting to retire just yet ❤️ Journey at 2 1/2 is still a work in progress and is still learning to follow the rules, but you can see the love of the game written all over her face and in every jump she takes ❤️

Thanks to Three Hounds Training Ground for an amazing event last weekend and to Timmersion Media for capturing the wonderful memories!

Sweetheart Splash at Three Hounds Training Ground this past weekend was a very sweet weekend, indeed! Journey & Layla jumped their little hearts out and both walked away with invites to North America Diving Dogs Regionals events

“I was told I was a ‘good boi’ a LOT today!”

This little guy passed both of his runs in Novice Containers and Novice Interiors to earn titles in both elements at the UKC trial at Fur Better Fur Worse Dog Training in Rock Island, IL this morning ❤️🐾 Nicely run trial, friendly/helpful volunteers and we were in & out in no time flat!

4 clean runs, 2 second place finishes, 2 first place finishes and a High in Trial to finish the icing on an already sweet cake!

I’m so thankful to this little dog for continually reminding me that it’s not just about the titles & ribbons… while nice, they sometimes mask the volume of love, patience and dedication to a dog’s success that goes into even the most “basic” of titles. Mercury is my reminder that it doesn’t matter how long it takes, it’s the love of the dog, the joy in the journey, the bond that is necessary to make these things happen. He & I don’t move through things as quickly as I have (and still do) with most of the pups in my little pack, but we train hard, we train happy, we fall on our faces and get back up and keep going ❤️🐾

Thank you to Three Hounds Training Ground and Straight to the point kennels for the constant support & encouragement with ALL of my pups!

It’s always nice when you can take a pup on a 3 week work trip with you and you have time to play ❤️

Delilah was “The chosen one” this time… We were in Norfolk, VA for 3 weeks and managed to fit in an NACSW trial where she earned her NW1 with zero faults and “pronounced” scores in containers & interiors ❤️🐾 combining that with hanging out at the office and getting unlimited treats from my coworkers, daily romps on the beach and copious snuggle time at night, I think it’s pretty safe to say that little D had an awesome trip… she’s a good little travel buddy and I can’t wait for our next adventures 🐾❤️

Nothing makes my heart happier than training and working my pups… scent work is one of our favorite “jobs”… everything else disappears for a moment and it’s just me, my dog and the work at hand… their noses know and it’s always a reminder that it’s ok for me to relinquish control and let someone “drive” for a moment…. I’m really just there to hold the leash and “translate” their language when they have hit their find… ❤️🐾 Lyric and D never cease to amaze me with their heart, drive and willingness to work with me 🐾❤️

No fancy poses tonight… just my sweet Lyric, who has earned a much deserved flop in her favorite chair after giving her all in the heat at the National Association of Canine Scent Work’s trial, hosted by Think Pawsitive at TBE’s facility today…

A well run trial, a beautiful facility, new friends made all weekend…

And a little dog who left her heart on the field today and pulled off her NW2 on her first attempt despite staging and searching in 90+ degree weather…

5 searches: 1 interior (3 hides), 1 exterior (1 hide), 1 container (2 hides), 2 vehicle (2 vehicles, 2 hides and 3 vehicles, 1 hide)
