Well friends, it's definitely summer here in Carrollton Texas! Heat advisories are non-stop with feels like temps up to 110🌶🌶🌶️️️
I took the pups out for a quick potty break and 2 minutes later I'm drenched in sweat, and the dogs tongues 👅 were dragging the ground like a clumsily unrolled carpet . It's a sauna out there! 🥵

With temperatures soaring , it's essential to keep our furry friends' safety in mind.
🤔Did you know that dog's are prone to heat stroke during our hot, humid weather?
No joke, dog's can get heat stroke and it can be potentially fatal.
Heat exhaustion symptoms can pop up from too much exposure to, well: heat 🌶

It's Dog Anxiety Awareness Week! Time to break out the doggy yoga mats and calming lavender essential oils.🧘‍♀️ But seriously, having an anxious or reactive dog can certainly be a challenge.
😡All the barking, lunging, snapping etc. is stressful to you and your best bud. Just like us, when our dog's are overwhelmed, they can't think straight, let alone listen🙉 .

Hey dog moms! Can we talk about bunny p**p? Yep, I said bunny p**p. My dog is addicted to the stuff. 🤦‍♀️ Every morning it’s a race to see who can find these (not so) golden nuggets first. I’ve taken to following her around while she’s sniffing the bunny p**p trail, to see if I can beat her… (spoiler alert: she usually wins)🙄.

🤷‍♀️Why does she love to forage for these little pellets?
🤔 Is she missing some nutrient in her diet? Doubtful, she gets high quality food and her vet check looks good.
😑Is she bored? Nope, this girl gets tons of enrichment.
🤢 Do they taste delicious? Should I find a way to incorporate bunny p**p into her diet (🚫just kidding, please don't do that❗️)

I’ve come to the conclusion that, well ,she’s a dog🐕🐾 and sometimes her normal dog behavior is just…weird. That doesn’t mean I condone the eating of random things she finds in our back yard…💡So, I’ve included 🐇 p**p hunting in my morning ritual…The race is on!🏁

Hey there, fellow dog guardians! 🐾 Do you have an anxious or reactive dog? If you said YES, you know how challenging it can be to manage their objectionable behavior.
😫 It's easy to feel frustrated or even embarrassed when your furry friend starts acting crazed in public. 🐶 Here’s the thing, your dog's is not being “bad” on purpose, they are communicating the only way they know how when faced with strong emotions such as fear.🐾

Aggressive behaviors exhibited by dogs are often a result of fear or stress. Your pup may be reacting to unfamiliar sights, sounds, or smells, or they may be feeling overwhelmed in new situations.

❤️ Approach your dog's behavior with compassion.
Put yourself in their "paws"🐾 so to speak.
🤔What sets off their anxiety?
🤔Can you minimize their exposure to situations or things that make them nervous?
🛡️It’s up to you to help them feel safe and secure.

True, these behaviors can be challenging to manage, but with patience, understanding and the right support, you can help your furry friend feel more at ease in the world around them. 🌎

Dogs have preferences just as we do. Some of us like intimate quiet nights at home, and some of us like big boisterous parties. And this doesn’t make us abnormal, this means that we are sentient beings with feelings.
Our dogs are the same. Being respectful of their ability to handle certain contexts, while being mindful of what they would enjoy or not enjoy is the key to being an excellent guardian.
I see lots and lots of dogs out in public that are visibly uncomfortable and also unprepared for these environments. It’s OKAY that your dog doesn’t do all the things that your previous dog, your neighbor’s dog or your other dog likes. It’s okay that they stay home. It’s okay that they don’t want to be petted by other people. It’s okay that they don’t like daycare. Love them and their uniqueness anyway. Because they love you and all your quirks too. 💟
