The sheep have not been getting much attention recently, because it's just SO HOT! It's hard to want cuddles with wooly critters when you're drenched in sweat 😅 But the lambs are still sweet as pie and starting to look grown up ❤️❤️

I have declared this my Year of Preserving Food! I've always been able to grow tons of food in the garden... But I get lost once it comes in the kitchen. I've been turning out some iffy batches of what will probably be soggy pickles, but I am determined to keep trying until I find recipes and methods that work well for me!

My goals by next year are to grow and save:
A whole year supply of carrots, parsnips, potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers for pickles and relish.

Snack time! The sheep love bamboo! It's growing well even though we're in a drought. I also cut some and bring it up to the barn for a fresh treat when we have snow on the ground. Feeding it to livestock is a great way to use this invasive species.

Sheep love bamboo! And despite the drought, our stand of bamboo down by the creek is growing strong. They think this is a treat, but they're helping clear off the leaves and small stems so that we can use these poles to make trellises in the garden!

As someone who grew up in the suburbs of major cities, this view from my front porch never ceases to thrill me. Sitting with a cup of coffee in a rocking chair, listening to the birds, looking out over my sheep grazing, and not seeing another person, house, or car... this is the dream ♥️
