Here is a group of our wonderful volunteers! Buffy, Brittany and Brianna came in today to lend a hand, but before they got started, each of the dogs were gifted their very on Christmas bag, complete with a new ball, a bone, food and treats. To say that we have angels among us is an understatement tonight. We asked for fosters to try and get our dogs out for the holidays and one special person answered our call. She didn’t want to take just any dog, she wanted our Ginger. She was willing to take a chance on our girl. Linda has taken our fiesty redhead for the holidays and just look at her. So with her blanket and balls she headed off away from the shelter for a little bit. Thank you Linda for being an Angel among us!

The temperatures are way too cold outside for your pets. Please bring them inside or at the least give them a heated house. Pets can experience frostbite and hypothermia. Don’t put your beloved pet through that. It’s not fair to them.

Merry Christmas from the Taylor County Humane Society! 🎄 We have had a busy year as usual. We have found new homes for around 75 dogs and puppies in the past year including spaying and neutering them all, hopefully preventing several future litters and unwanted dogs. We received a grant to assist in sterilizing the dogs and cats of Taylor county as well as offering vouchers with TCHS money. This resulted in writing ~ 350 vouchers to get animals spayed and neutered this year alone.
Our volunteers worked so hard this year and held a number of adoption events with businesses such as Tractor supply and Pet Supplies Plus as well as Eastern pet supply and local farmers markets. We are grateful for their hard work and the cooperation of these businesses. We also walked the pups in the Grafton Christmas parade which they loved. 🎅🏼
Our spaghetti dinner was held in May of this year and did well. Keep an eye out for the date of our 2025 spaghetti dinner in the spring. 🍝🌷
We received a grant to do improvements around the shelter and have already had some work done to help the drainage issues. The county commission was kind enough to help update the lighting around the shelter also. 💡
Our donation box was installed and came in very handy for people to drop off donations to us. We are thankful for the Boy Scouts who worked on that project for us. We also had several youth groups volunteer their time to us this last year. We hope that helps instill the importance of animal welfare and volunteerism in our young people. 🎁💝✅

Of course none of this would be possible without our wonderful volunteers and the help of you all.
We are so appreciative of our community and the support of our shelter and our mission. We hope that you will continue to support us and considering adoption, volunteering and fostering dogs for us in 2025. Also know that we will continue to offer vouchers to get your dogs and cats spayed and neutered.

We must control the pet population and we hope that through our advocacy and education, we can continue to assure that all animals have good homes.

Merry Christmas to our doggy residents from Mrs Kirkpatricks first grade class at West Taylor Elementary. Pictured and representing his class is Oliver and his mom Spencer. Instead of a bunch of classroom treats, these youngsters decided to bring in supplies for the doggies at the shelter. Way to go students we love your big hearts and the dogs love their food and treats.

A huge thank you to our anonymous donor who donated enough blankets and toys for our dogs and pups to have their very own blanket and Atleast one new toy Christmas morning. Also donated their favorite snack of milkbones. We are so blessed to have such great community support.

Another happy adoption day! We are happy to say that our girl Paisley has found her forever home. Foster mom is a little sad, but also very happy that Paisley now has a family of her own and especially at Christmas time. Merry Christmas to all.

We present our 2024 “dogs” of Christmas! 🐶🎅🏼

Our dogs last year really enjoyed getting gifts so we wanted to do it again this year- to have people send a gift or gifts to a shelter dog!🎄🎁

Dog’s names, likes and sizes will be on their posts!
You can drop off or mail a Christmas gift to a dog. We would love for each dog to get at least one gift. The dogs we will be posting are available for adoption, except possibly a few but the descriptions will be in the posts to let you know.
If a dog is adopted before Christmas we will send their gift home with them to open. 🎁
We ask for no raw hides please. We prefer soft, easy to eat treats, milk bones (especially the gravy ones), indestructible toys like kongs, peanut butter and any type of wet dog food which makes for a special treat.

Our physical address is 182 Humane Society Drive, Grafton WV 26354 if you would like to drop things off (we also have our drop box just outside our gate) or monetary donations can be sent through Facebook or to PO BOX 4045, Grafton WV, 26354.

Our 5th amazing dog is Axel! Axel has been with us for about 1.5 months now. He was surrendered to the shelter through no fault of his own. He was quite sad at first but has settled in well and enjoys all of the attention and other dogs. He is dog friendly unless the other dog starts getting too rough, then he starts to get annoyed but is not aggressive. He is such a boxer with his little snorty noises, stubby tail and wiggly butt.
He is picky about his treats but does love a good bone to chew on and a fluffy blanket to lay on.
