Just hanging around....and yes, mama caught me trying to destroy my swing. It's ok though because I know she will buy me a new one whenever I need it! 😉 The last picture is of my first swing. It took me less than two months to wreck that one.

Hello my fabulous
Hope you’re still keeping well.
Yesterday my post was about our safety around doors and windows.
It’s very much the same with large mirrors apart of we can’t fly away through a mirror😁
However mirrors could be fatal to us if we crash into them whilst flying.
You can place a suction perches on the mirrors so we can land safely.
You could also use stickers or coloured masking tape on the mirrors. There are some perches and stickers listed under my recommendations in my shop (link in my bio) so you can have a look.
You could also use our intelligence and teach us mirrors are hard surfaces. Bring us to the mirror a few times a day and let us tap our beaks on the mirror. We will enjoy seeing ourselves but we will also realise that a mirror is a hard surface.
Eventually don’t have any large mirrors around us.
Mum takes me to the mirror every now and again so I know it’s a hard surface. I like seeing handsome Timmy there😊
There are also flying birds stickers on our mirrors just in case.
How do you keep your bird safe from large mirrors? Please share your ideas with me, others might find it helpful.

Hello my lovely and beautiful friends. I hope you all enjoyed the chop recipe from yesterday.
Today I’m going to talk to you about preening our tail and wings. I’m sure you have all noticed that we spend a significant time of the day preening. Creating dust and feathers everywhere 😉 but keeping our feathers in top condition.
I would never preen my tail and wings in an unfamiliar environment. That’s because when I preen my tail and feathers I can’t pay close attention to what’s going on around me.
Our preening gland is located just above our beautiful red tail. We get a special preening oil from that spot. We often rub our beaks on that spot whilst we preen and then distribute it all over our feathers to keep them healthy.
Akira is showing us some preening so her feathers will be well maintained and the dust will be sent to her environment for her human to clean 😁❤️
If we bonded with another parrot we would preen each other. If we don’t have a parrot buddy we will preen you. That way we tell you we love you♥️ and value you as our buddy. .
I love to preen my mums hair, especially if they are wet.
Do you like preening you human my friends? Please share your preening moments with me. .

Is your idea of Friday, spending as much time as you can with your feathered friends, the same as mine? I bet they’d be pleased to know. .
Timmy’s got another fact for you. He’s going to tell you about how Lola .the.grey communicates to her human ‘mate’. She stretches and lifts her wings as a cute greeting. Have you ever noticed your birds wings stretched out for greetings? If you did you’re lucky because your African Grey loves you and showing pleasure to see you.❤️❤️❤️
But it also means they associate seeing you with an action to be happening and they’re getting ready for their physical interaction. Aren’t they clever?
If you like Timmy’s daily facts and beautiful pictures and videos, why don’t you try follow us

Yippee! 😁 It’s Friday! Timmy says more time for play! 😁❤️ Play is actually very important for African Greys! Their well-being is highly dependent on play.
As we spend long hours at work and these highly intelligent birds are left without our company, it’s important to give them everything we can to keep them engaged, stimulated, positive and happy overall with the right choice of toys and games.
Tomsk__has it all. His favourite game is drumming!
Timmy’s favourite game is to destroy as much as he can without being spotted😁😂
Don’t be shy...tell Timmy about your favourite toy or game😊❤️

Help! The ‘JAWS’ is coming! 😱
African Greys, in the wild, form deep
relationships❤️. Pet African Greys usually find a close ‘mate’ within their family for whom they closely bond. They demand their attention and often show jealousy to their competitors. 😊
Timmy has a very close bond to me and he’s not very keen to anyone else. He’s very jealous to the cat and our old dog and he would happily attack them. 😁
Do you like the whole family or do you have your chosen ‘mate’?❤️

Hello my beautiful
I hope you are all well.
Today mum gave me a healthy snack, something I’ve never tried before. I didn’t like it very much because it was a bit hairy 😲
Can you guess what fruit it was? 🤔
Here is a list of ideas for a healthy snacks you can prepare for us so we don’t feel left out begging for your food.
So here are just a few ideas:
-larger pieces of fruit
-larger pieces of vegetables
-cooked or dry pasta (no salt)
-cooked grains and legumes
-bread sticks with mashed banana dip
-cashew nuts/almonds (usually when I train)
-egg (boiled or scrambled without salt)
-dried fruit and vegetables
-plain air popped corn
-oven baked sweet potato fries (no salt)
-whole grain cereals
-veggie chips made in a microwave (no salt)
-rice cakes plain (no salt)
-seeded ryvita thins
-fruit skewers
-parrot safe flowers/herbs
My absolutely favourite snack is sweetcorn boiled egg, apple slices or satsumas but I also enjoy any pieces of veggies. I’m not very keen on dried fruit or vegetables.

Hello my beautiful
I hope you are all still keeping well.
As I have a high amount of people asking about my harness training, today I’m going to share with you again how we did it.
1. Mum was wearing my harness around her neck when with me until I was comfortable.
2. Mum started to touch me or pet me with the harness in her hand until I was comfortable with it.
3. Then she started laying the harness on my back.
4. After that she laid it on my back counting to 3,then slowly increasing the count.
5. She then started to touch around my face with harness in her hand until I was comfortable with it.
6. She then tried to put it round my head and straight away took it off until I was comfortable
7. Then she put in on counted to 3 first then increased count until comfortable
8. Then the same but she started leaving the harness on my back counting to 3 then increased count again until I was comfortable with this step
9. Them she started lifting my wings when I had it on around my head, still counting
10. She then put it on over head and wings until I was comfortable. She was counting very slowly as it took longer
11. And finally she done it up and I was ready but she straight away took it off again, still counting
12. Then increasing the the time I’m wearing them by 5 min and every day (or less if I get restless in it) slowly increasing the time you I’m wearing them.
And that’s it. I’m nearly 10 years old and I managed to learn it. It took micro steps, patience and time. Mum also rewarded every little step. Mum was calm and followed my clues. She NEVER rushed me or forced me and now I can enjoy the great outdoors 😁❤️
