Judy's 'bad eye', the left one, has healed enough for me to be comfortable sharing this pic. It will be removed on the 18th as it's nothing more than a source of pain. Her right eye has the tiniest bit of vision. Doesn't stop her from being spunky and a climber!

Little Miss Judy was a rockstar at the vet's, purred up a storm. 🥰
Here's the summary: She's gonna be a pirate, arrrrgh matey! Both her eyes had ruptured. The left eye cannot be saved and will be removed asap. Her right eye, however, has 'healed' to the point where it is stable. She also seems to have the slightest bit of vision in that eye. It is most likely limited to a tiny bit of light and dark. But it's miracolous news! It's not as cloudy as it used to be and might continue to improve. It will never be perfect, there's too much scaring but if it doesn't bother her, it will just stay put. This is the best possible outcome and a TRUE MIRACLE I couldn't be happier for that little whirlwind.
Next up: eye removal and spay will be scheduled.

To absolutely no one's surprise, Avery was adopted already! 🥳
Also, Judy went to the shelter with me today to get her next round of vaccines. Afterwards, she took a snuggly nap with the shelter's resident love muffin, Pikachu. Seriously, this boy just loves all the kittens!

Avery and Ivy are growing uo! They are both still waiting for their families to come find them. Avery moved to the adoption floor now to give him more exposure. Ivy will stay behind the scenes because the cat condos are multilevel and too hard for her to navigate with her limited sight. But, they both have new friends to cuddleand play with.

Little girlie went on a field trip to the rest of the house today. I wanted to see how she'd be doing with all that space and orienting herself. She did really well! She bumped into quite a few things but she also found Ollie's favorite toy and had fun.

Judy vet report: Both eyes will probably have to be removed. It sounds bad but really, she never had any eyesight, most likely ever. So she's not gonna miss something she never had in the first place, and certainly not the discomfort/pain from her eyeballs now. She's adapted amazingly well to being blind, she's feisty and she will be fine!
Instead of eye ointment, I just have to make sure her eyeballs stay clean. She likes to play in the litterbox so sometimes, a piece of litter gets stuck on her bad eye. A little saline rinse is all that's needed to clean it up. Otherwise, she's in great shape!

This little sleepyhead is coming to the shelter with me tomorrow. The vet is in, and she's gonna have a look at her bad ...

Hey everyone, say hello to little Judy. She's about 5 weeks old and was found all by herself outside. Overall, she's fairly healthy and has a great appetite. Her eyes, however, are looking really bad, the left one downright gnarly so I will avoid close-ups as much as possible. Do not fear though! Once she's big enough, she will have surgery to have the one eye, if not both, removed. It appears she can't see anything right now so losing them won't bother her one bit! She can navigate her little enclosure just fine, found the food, water and litterbox right away.

It is with a shattered heart that I must share with you the passing of my sweet little Olliebear 😭💔😭
His bloodwork showed that he was in kidney failure. The urine analysis confirmed the diagnosis. It came as an utter shock to the vet, my kittendealers, and me. He was only 14 months old. There was nothing more we could have done for him but let him go in peace. I held him and told him I loved him and to go find the big floofy grumpy-looking Himi named Gizmo when he got to the Rainbow Bridge. He would show him the ropes.
Mr. Nutty and I have officially adopted him so he will always be a part of our family.
I want to thank my kittendealers for all the trust and support over the past few weeks. It was a rollercoaster but no one expected an outcome like this. It is devastating and horrible and heartbreaking and unfair. There are no words to descibe this utter sadness.
I love you and I miss you, Olliebear. Run Free across the Bridge. 🌈

Ivy and Avery will be leaving me today to go back to the shelter. 😢
Ollie has had a very bad week and had to spend the day at the vet's again yesterday. They did more testing, x-rays, urine and blood draws to figure out what is going on with him. Yes, we are still working on that. He's on painmeds that I need to give him twice a day so he's in my foster room where I can easily get to him instead of having to chase him around the whole house. The vet believed we are dealing with stress-induced cystitis so I have to figure out what is stressing him and minimize that stress. Please keep the little dude in your thoughts.

Fostering

I want to share my passion for fostering with anyone interested. This is about more than cute cuddly kittens (Ok, it’s a lot about that, too!). I want to give people an insight into what fostering is all about, what’s involved, the care little kittens need, the joys of watching them grow, but also the heartbreak of losing a tiny soul. I hope to encourage people to learn more about fostering and to maybe even jump in and open their hearts to animals in need. Fostering DOES save lifes!
