A space for updates on our foster dogs!

Rearranging things so they can be in the spare room and thought we'd go live for a bit while I keep moving the furniture around!
I had to get a new water bowl and Honey is a little unsure about it but she’s willing to be brave
For those who want to know how the story ended.
(there’s a pattern emerging — that’s Agate always on the outside with his ears flipped up)
Yes everyone is fine about there being adorable new puppies in the house, why do you ask?
Adding one last live because they knocked the camera over last time!
And in the end Lia did steal a treat 😏
🎥 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
This is the exact moment Noel went from a dog who runs in the kitchen for a treat, to a dog who knows I’ll close that gate behind her if she does.
“Oh, I can have a treat? How about you just pass it to me here then?”
It’s like two toddlers playing chess — neither of us know what the rules are and we both think we’re winning.
(also shoutout to Jesse and Brutus, the old-timers who know that the young ones have to just learn for themselves)
We’re going to have to start stacking vertically soon…
You all might need to sit down because there’s a lot of cuteness incoming!
Meet the gemstone litter! These 6.5 week old babies are yorkie/chi mix on their mother’s side and a mystery dog on dad’s (we just know he’s not big either). Small on size, big on personality!
They arrived late last night and are still getting settled, so many more photos and videos to come!

When everyone decides they’re thirsty at the same time
Thank you Emily for reminding me today that Leah Units of Dog Measurement have been a thing for almost 20 years (and, as a fellow researcher, letting this metric slide on both validity and reliability).
Here’s our favorite vet tech student with her first rescue dog.
Behind every strong, independent woman is a sweet guy who’s a little bit afraid of her
Yes they will be your valentine! 💕
We’re gonna post this as if Eve is part of the Siberian special forces and not the delicate southerner she really is…
You can jump up and down about a snow day even if you never go outside
You either are the friend at the Super Bowl party who keeps kicking the food bucket until someone lets you stick your head in there even though the bowl is already full, or you’re the friend who’s driving her home. I salute you both.
Just Bear being absolutely casual somewhere he’s not supposed to be 🙄
We all know the old saying: feed a cold, starve a fever, smother a foster
The police came to temporarily block our street and she spent the whole time screaming out the window to them that I’m not sharing my french fries.
When you’re going through the family photo albums and realize your parents used to be cool AF before you came along.
According to family legend, in high school my dad would eat his own lunch and then go hang out by the big trash can and “oh, are you not gonna eat that…?” himself into a whole second or third lunch by grabbing unopened food off people’s trays.* That approach to life is Eve’s whole vibe.
*to this day he will do this at restaurants to things like French fries on someone else’s plate even if that someone was, in fact, going to eat that
Real housewife of New Jersey gets a blowout and keratin treatment…
Oh hallo!!
Meet my new friend Holly, so named because I found her eating trash this morning on Holland Rd.
She’s a super sweet girl who’s in sort of rough shape. It’s possible she was well cared for but has been on the run for a while, but I was able to call her to me, grab her collar, and put her in the car with no issues so probably not. She has a collar but no tag or chip, and we’ve gotten no response to multiple posts on local groups.
She’s an easygoing, gentle girl who had no problems with me handling her to put a harness on and hasn’t shown any resource guarding of her food or this big ol’ beef bone she’s been gnawing on for the past 2 hours.
Even though I already love this gentle blockhead to death, unfortunately we don’t have space for her to stay longterm. Later today she’ll go to another rescuer for short term foster while we coordinate with a local rescue on longer term placement. Lucky girl is likely on her way to a whole new life!

Paused to keep an eye on Lia while she gets tested as a puppy raiser, but we’ll preschedule puppy moments of zen moving forward!
She’s genuinely going to keep treating me like I’m the idiot who doesn’t remember where we keep the food when she wants some right now.
Storm status: Noel really liked the snow right away. She also became the first dog in our history to realize that if you want to be outside without being in the weather, then go sit in the dog house!
I’ve been teaching the bigger dogs to associate the clicker with a treat, and wanted to see whether I could recall them without saying anything at all. 😁
A little enrichment with my sweet friend Honey, thanks to Joanne passing along this puzzle. I started taking this video after watching her lick it for two full minutes, but we’ve got a long winter break ahead to keep practicing!
Emily got us the bonkers crab, which just unseated Billy Big Bass as my favorite animatronic seafood. I’ve been testing it on a variety of audiences this week, starting with Pumpkin, who I’m starting to think might be British.
How I’ll someday explain to the ER doc that I managed to dislocate both kneecaps while standing still in my back yard
I know I can’t fix things with puppies, but hopefully 10 seconds of Honey wagging her tail helps if you’re one of the people we care about who are having a tough time this week. Oh, and Bear just being 100% Bear.
I took this last night but only just realized it not only has all 4 fosters but also being their truest selves. - Alix is trying to get someone to chase him. - The mighty little Prim squares up and shoves him over. - Toby plays Switzerland, ever present yet always neutral. - Abel rolls around in the grass like Ferdinand the bull.
