Baby budgies being hand fed by a good friend. They're just starting to nibble seeds.
I wish my work schedule allowed me to feed younger babies, but it's just not practical.
I just posted the availabirbs (shared) and figured I'd add an update here for what's on the menu for the next couple months! ;)
I've got baby parrotlets hatching out now! They should be blue or turquoise, possibly pieds as well, with other colors possible if both parents carry those mutations. I won't know for a few weeks probably.
I've got more keet and budgie eggs in the nest, meaning more hand fed babies!
A new one, my red throated parrot finch pair are nesting finally! It only took the invasion of a gold breasted waxbill to their cage to jump start them I guess LOL
And I've got another nest of canary eggs due to hatch in under two weeks. Crossing fingers for colorful babies this time!
Oh! I've also got a pair of lovebirds that are starting to lay, so crossing fingers for them as well. The hen is a true blue violet pied, the male is par-blue, so I should get some true blues, violets, par blues, possibly violet par blue, and pieds of those colors.
Everything except the finches will be hand fed, thanks to my good friend Lori Ogozalek! I don't know how I would manage without her love of hand feeding. LOL
So much has gone on in the last year, and I've kind of forgotten to update this page!
My bird building is progressing towards being finished!
There are still a number of things that need finishing, but it's getting there!
Still to be done is finishing the insulation in the back loft, installing the sink, water tank and water pump and holding tank for the grey water.
I'm also planning to screen the front porch and put an outdoor aviary on it for some birds to enjoy the summer months.
I am breeding some birds, with the goal of raising funds to help further support those rescued and those in need of rescue in the future.
