fridays big group! thankful to have help with them all!!
happy thursday!! todays group was a mish mash of wednesday and todays groups as i got a flat tire yesterday đ« but everyone had a blast!!!
wednesday and thursday!!
i will send out a message tomorrow but i am taking next tuesday (13th) off so if you have walks booked and would like to reschedule please flick me a message!!
todays training session with buster!
while it may look like we arenât doing a lot but in reality we are doing so much!!
firstly learning to sit on the scales will help in future with vet visits and the foundations of place stay. sitting and letting him work out how to relax with the world going around him is a great method of socialising, learning to be neutral in all environments and seeing things going by and learning that they arenât something to be scared of!
as a golden retriever buster will have a natural drive for birds so starting young with being neutral around them will help in future with not chasing wildlife!
todays walk and training session with buster!
we played some fetch today! which is something we donât do often!
you may ask âwhy donât you play fetch often? my dog loves fetch!â
the answer is because in a pack of dogs and a singular high value item it could be very dangerous if clear rules arenât established before structured fetch begins!
what are the rules? iâll tell you!
no sn**ching: if im holding the toy by my side you arenât allowed to sn**ch it from me, if im not engaging in the toy, you canât either!
no stealing: if one dog gets the toy, no other dog is to steal that toy from said dog!
waiting patiently: fetch is all about that chase drive so sitting or standing patiently without crowding me and possibly causing a spat is very important!
no hoarding: if a dog gets a toy and they start goofing around too much and playing keep away once i get the toy back the game is over for the walk.
no roughhousing: this is to ensure nobody gets tackled to the ground which could easily escalate so absolutely no playing silly buggers with fetch!
all of these rules are controlled by verbal commands and corrections! i know the word corrections can sound scary but a simple âaht-noâ is all it is! they listen well we continue fetch, they donât? game over!!!
this is a long one! so i hope you enjoyed reading about how i manage fetch with multiple dogs! itâs a lot more complicated than one might think đč
yesterdays fun in a muddy field and todays sunny day at the valley!!
three in one!!!
hey everyone!!
sorry for lack of posting! i had to make an emergency trip to hamilton yesterday after being told about my new foster Krumble!
he was being taken to the pound where he was going to be destroyed and a friend of mine happened to be there and the owner was happy to surrender him to me! so i was making very hasty plans on how i was going to make this work so heâd get to live life and find a new home!
so meet krumble! heâs a 6yo lab mix thatâs spent his entire life outside! youâll be seeing him around a lot in the work photos while i train him up and get him ready for a new home!!
all photos from monday and tuesday will go up with todays photos!!
today was actually decently warm for winter!!! still not warm enough for me to wanna go in the pond đ
thursday in the sun!!

yesterdays group photos!!

today you can see we worked on a lot of stay commands, group recall, individual recall and at the very end you can see my failed attempt and showing yall how i get everyone ready for a photo!! i need to remember my tripod next time đ
a little something weâve been working on!
staying even whilst i drop food on the ground and then refocusing back on me!
this helps proof the stay and also helps to get a look at their engagement with me!
iâve been working on their individual engagement and itâs been amazing so now also working on group focused engagement in a heel!! will try get a video of that next week đ
unfortunately over my small break my camera broke on my phone đđ so i apologize for the quality of these but i got my new phone today so quality will be better tomorrow!!

âwhat happens if you see others on the trails?â typically we donât! but the times we do like today we have two options! a: recall, leash up and pull off to the side then continue on leash until we canât see or hear anything! or b: recall and pull off to the side if thereâs a big enough spot and do a treat scatter and play or train in the field for 10-15 minutes until iâm certain nobody is around!! we did this today!! itâs always important to be respectful of others and keeping dogs under control is important!!
