Emergency recalls:

Every dog needs one. Whatever you choose as your recall needs to be enforced every single time. The blessing in having one that works really well and for taking the time to diligently make sure it is obeyed every single time, is off leash walks.  This morning we seen a bear in the woods beside the path. I whistled which is my dogs recall. Immediately they all came. Then we quietly walk together not posing any threat to the bear. Did they notice the bear? Yes of course they did. Did we have some grumbly growleys while walking in our heel together? Yes again. BUT… they stayed with me without question and will continue to walk off leash in the woods every day for the rest of their lives. BECAUSE both them and I did the work to obtain this. THEY deserve the training.

Fence isn’t on… and hasn’t been for a couple years.

Barnabas has no idea why they don’t come 🙃
