323561 Rootbeer, neutered Pit Bull mix, 1 yr. 68 lbs HW neg. Rootbeer was on the run for awhile but staying near a particular house. We were able to contain him and get him back to the shelter. He was showing some fear early on with officer, and while trying to walk him out for potty breaks. Staff and volunteers worked with him through the month of February and got him. He was made available for adoption mid March. He had some issues with meeting adopters. Tail tucked, stiff body and began to growl. He was more fearful and just not ready for new people in our busy shelter. So Rootbeer is now seeking rescue. Our volunteers report he does well for baths, loves to carry stuffy toys. Enjoys treats and is happy and playful. He will toss his toys in the air to catch them and has been friendly and social with those he knows. He does have notes on his kennel card that he will fixate on tennis balls so should perhaps have other toys to play with.
A volunteer had this to say about him recently: "Oh, Rootbeer, such a sweet boy. As soon as I leashed him, he turned around and got his nylabone to bring out with him. He was great in the run. He loved playing with the big red ball in there. I made sure the run was clear of tennis balls. He was happy to play and take breaks every once in a while to come over for treats and pets. After playing for a while, we headed back inside."
