Do you think if she was a couch potato and got walked in heel position her whole life she would of lived to be 16 years old still fit enough to go on 1 hour walks? I too often see dog trainers walking there dogs in the heel position all for the gram, looks cool right? Gives you an ego boost? (This is not saying sushi can’t walk in heel position on demand). The first thing that goes in an old dog in the hips. Heel position does nothing for this old girls hips. Nor for her high energy. The best thing I can do for her is let her pull to help her strengthen her hips. This TUT (time under tension) keeps her muscles and joints strong. She is fulfilled and happy for the day. In heel position us people can simply not walk fast enough to get the heart rate up of a normal functioning dog. Heel position walking creates frustration and is completely useless for exercising a dog. They get 0 fulfilment out of it can’t wee or poo 💩 why do you expect your or a dog your training to do this 100% of the time? How boring. Let dogs be dogs again!
