Last Saturday I spent a great couple of hours learning (and practicing) what to do and how to help my dog if he gets injured (cuts or fractures) I'll now be more confident to bandage a paw, ear and tail in an emergency situation. But more practice definitely required!
Thanks to for her wonderful training and for hosting.

🐾✨ Owner feedback ✨🐾

I'm thrilled to share this heartwarming feedback from Conker's owners who attended the level 1 and 2 classes I lead for 💖

"It's been great and you've helped Conker come out of her shell. The way you've managed a class of different levels and kept everyone engaged is impressive!"
(Laura, Conker's owner)

I love seeing how dogs and their owners grow in confidence through training - it's why I do what I do!

🐾🎓 Celebrating Milestones: Week 5 of Group Dog Training Class! 🐶🎉

We're about to wrap up the latest block of dog training classes for at Clwyd Riding Centre with a final hour dedicated to improving the skills learned in the last 4 week, such as recall, loose lead walking and sit, as beautifully demonstrated in this post by one our graduates from the last block. These classes provide a great start for our pups and set them and their owners up for a joyful partnership.

It’s been amazing seeing the growth of the pups, not just in size, but in their skills too.

🎓 Learning Never Ends: The training sessions are just the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and bonding with our dogs. Every day presents new opportunities to teach, engage, and build a stronger connection with your them.

Remember there is always something new to learn and follow on classes are available through

If you have a new puppy and want to join a group class, the next sessions are due to start w/c 13th November so check out https://forestsandfetch.com for details

This little pup is a recent graduate of the puppy class of at Gwernymynydd. He was super excited for the training, just like me

The new block of training of the beginner class at Clwyd Riding Centre has already reached week 4 and the 9 dogs and owners have shown great progress but we’ve still got a few more behaviours to learn in weeks 4 and 5. Here's what's got me thrilled as we approach the fourth week:

1. Remarkable Progress: All the owners have been dedicated to helping their pups to learn new behaviours, resulting in great progress each week
2. New Challenges: Week 4 introduces a fresh set of challenges – this week it’s Wait and Drop, along with practicing the loose lead, recall and other skills we’ve already started learning
3. Teamwork: The bond between owner and dog gets better as we understand our dogs. The dogs trust in their owner grows, and it's heartwarming to see the owner and pup teamwork as they progress through the training.

As we gear up for Week 4, I'm excited! We're not just training dogs; we're building a foundation for a lifetime of happiness and well-being for your furry friends.🐾

🐾 "Love, Laughter, and Paws 🐶💕"

Last week, I had the joy of looking after Simba while his humans celebrated their marriage with friends and family in the garden.

I first met Simba, when assisting at a dog training class by and he took 5 weeks to come say hi as this beautiful boy does not like you to look at him - hard when he is such a stunner!

Roll on a few months, several get to know him visits and much dedication by his owners working with him around people and other dogs, I spent an enjoyable day helping Simba remain calm while people milled about outside.

Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime filled with as much happiness as they've brought into this dog's life and more! 🎉🥂 Cheers to forever, both in love and dog cuddles!

My name is Jacqui Gears and I set up Aspiring Paws to help dogs and their owners create a strong bond built on love and understanding.

My love of dogs as a best friend started young – when my sister went off to school, my dog became my number one board game opponent. Fast forward to my teenage years and I voluntarily walked a neighbour’s Irish setters, until eventually, my parents relented and we had our own Irish Setter come live with us.

2 Irish setters, 3 Staffordshire bull terriers and a lurcher over the years have fuelled my love for dogs and their companionship and my current dog, a Springer Spaniel takes being your best friend to another level, though he’s also the friend to get you into trouble.

Having volunteered at the RSPCA for eight years, I have walked dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments, allowing me to better understand different breeds and the individual characters even within one breed. This led me to decide I wanted to train as a dog trainer.

I studied with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and passed with distinction, so am now a fully qualified dog trainer.
As a dog trainer, I train the dog in front of me using science-based techniques and force-free training methods, adapting sessions to meet the needs of the dogs and the owners.

There are ups and downs and good days and bad, and through training, you can help them be as well behaved as you want them to be. I am not an obedience trainer so if you want a perfect dog, I may not be the trainer for you. I want dogs to still have their own personalities, whilst being safe and isn’t it that cheeky nature we love most?

If you see me out with my Springer, who came to me aged 2 (now 4), we are a work in progress. Some things he just gets (any new behaviour!), but things he has been able to practice over the years – like pulling on a lead, or deafness when there’s a pheasant about, takes time, patience and consistency – everyone has to be doing the same thing (take note Mr Gears!)

I will help you build the confidence in your own skills, support and encourage you to understand your dog and give them clear cues as to what you are asking them to do.

I won’t guarantee a perfect dog but will help you gain the knowledge and skills to keep your dog safe, happy and well-adjusted to their environment so that you and your dog enjoy your lives together at home and out and about.

If you want to find out more about the services I offer, and how I can help your dog reach its full potential give me a shout via Messenger/Email/WhatsApp or a good old fashioned phone call.

I look forward to speaking with you

Jacqui Gears IMDT
