#Wednesdaywords
Wednesday words is coming direct from Clovers mouth this week. She a very vocal little dog anyway but I try and teach he to understand when its ok and not ok to be barking.
Here she is learning the queue 'talk' - when I get out the bath she is super excited so its a good time to practice. 🐾 🙉
Have any of you taught your dog anything to control behaviors you do and dont want? (only positive of course)

Do you ever give your dog the option to make the right decision? (at a safe distance of course)
Its amazing how giving them that little bit of control can really help with their confidence and making the right decision.
We have been working on this a lot lately with Clover - getting a safe distance between us and another dog allowing her to engage with the dog and then disengage back to me receiving a yummy treat! Positive association with scary things.
This video is a little demonstration - there is a black dog (clovers nemesis) a few meters behind us.

So Clover is really scared of dogs BUT she has absolutely no fear of our Pygmy Goats. No I still havent learnt why she has fear of her own kind but not goats 🤔 Do any of your doggies react to dogs but not other things that really surprise you?
P.S Our goats are called Biscuit and Porridge.

Clover likes to bark at everything when she is in the car and not in her crate so quite often we just sit in a carpark and watch the world go by. You will see in the video that I reward when Clover disengages from the thing she finds scary and is barking at - positive reinforcement that scary things actually mean yummy treats.
Have you tried any of this with your doggies and have you seen any improvement?
Please come on over to our group we would love to hear from you - anxious and fearful small dogs group

#Mondaymotivation
Well this Mondays motivation is just our Clover loving a game of ball - shes so noisy I think she loves the sound of her own voice. Any of your furbabies love their own voice?

ALLERGIES - Something we havent discussed yet but do any of your dogs suffer with any type of allergy and challenges that raises??
Clover is off to the dermatology vet on Tuesday which going to a vet is a challenge in its self, here I am trying to de sensatise her having something touching her ears....Im really nervous about how it will go but also know we need to discover what allergies she has, as when they flare it makes her so much more reactive!

Just a bit of Friday happiness for you all - my Clover loves learning tricks...see her waving. x Can your little ones do any tricks?

How many of your give your dogs long lasting chews and realise the benefit this can have? Clover loves a long lasting chew - NO RAWHIDE though only natural. Why is chewing good for your anxious Pup...because it releases endorphins - Clover always has what are known to us as 'rest days' which means she has a break from the outside world and any possible triggers. A way we find that helps to keep her brain active is by giving her a long lasting chew. This makes her relaxed, calm and tires her out which is great on all levels. Give it a try. P.S Its ok to not take your dog for a walk everyday and give them something lovely to do at home.

What is more tiring for your doggie than just going for a walk? Sniffing....let those happy hormones be released and calm your nervous pooch. I remember when I first started my training journey with Clover that she was just too anxious to sniff on walks and because I was just concentrating on getting her to walk rather than thinking what it was she needed to feel comfortable.
