It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to long-time Kelpie lover and WAKCI member Fred Theiss. Our sincere condolences to his family and beloved wife Clara.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Fred’s name to WAKCI, the national, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting an accurate portrayal of the Kelpie breed through education, events and resources.
Fred will be missed by many, especially those in the dog sport world. 😢🐾 💔💙

Attention herding peps, back by popular demand, a Herding Fun Trial will be held on Saturday March 25th at Oliver Farm Kawartha Lakes. Contact Ian Talbot for more info. $60 for 3 runs.

This years first herding day was held on February 25th and was a hit thanks to Ian Talbot for organizing on short notice. Huge thanks to Ian for donating proceeds to the club!

It is with a heavy heart that I inform this community of the passing of Tony Parsons, OAM, early this week.
Tony was one of the most influential breeders and promoters of the working kelpie over the past several decades. He wrote a number of authoratitive books on the history of the kelpie while also making it a 'life task' to source and propogate "class sheepdogs". Tony began his quest for kelpies with outstanding natural working traits in 1944. This gave him access to dogs that traced virtually to foundation dogs of the breed.
There would be very few modern day kelpies that don't trace back to his Karrawarra stud.
On behalf of this community I would like to wish his family our deepest of condolences and thank them for his great contribution to this breed that have become our best assets and workmates.

What a fantastic event today in support of our Canadian Kelpie Club! Our first, (hopefully annual;), agility fun match was a success!. 🐕
Thanks SO much to Chris Krol for organizing and doing a stellar job at keeping things fun and running smoothly. Bravo 👏🐾
Huge thanks to Sarah Hughes of Details Dog Training for providing such a lovely venue. We are forever grateful for your help and support. Shout out to Kristine Kubota for donating prizes for the bullseye game and Toonie Toss!🎯 and to Helen Parkinson Brown for the cool collar and tug!

And most of all thank you to all the competitors who came out to have fun with your dogs and support our small, but growing club. 🙏😘🐾
