Pity Party
It’s tough. We all have bad days. We all have setbacks and moments in our riding career where we feel like we’ve been dealt a bad hand. You can cry all the tears you want. You can ask the universe why me a thousand times. You can cuss, scream, throw stuff, you can do whatever you want. You can process it however you want to, but don’t you dare sit in it. Don’t you dare throw a pity party. Don’t you dare allow the setback to consume you. We have a rule in my house. Five minutes. That’s all you get. Take the five minutes to cry, scream, and get it all out. No one will talk to you in those five minutes. After five minutes you better pick yourself up,dust yourself off and let it go. See if we sit in the upset for longer than five minutes then we are allowing our brains to sink down into that depression couch and just sit there. We don’t have time for that. We have goals and dreams to chase. Take the five minutes to acknowledge to pain and frustration Take the five minutes to be human and be upset about the bad run. But then get your boots on, we got work to do. Underdogs don’t get pity parties. We get five minute breaks then it’s back to the grind. Pick up your cowboy hat out of the dirt and wear it like a crown. The dream isn’t going to chase itself. Hold your head high and keep grinding. Underdogs don’t get pity parties.
