• Every dog learns at their own pace! 🐶💡
Some skills may take days, while others may take weeks. Patience helps you stay calm and supportive as your dog works through new challenges.

• Celebrate small steps along the way! 🎉👏
Learning happens in baby steps, so acknowledge each little victory. Positive reinforcement builds your dog’s confidence and keeps them motivated.

• Stay consistent but flexible! 📆🐾
Regular practice is key, but remember that some days may be harder than others. Adjust your training approach as needed, and don’t rush the process.

• Your calm energy reassures your dog! 🌊❤️
Dogs pick up on your emotions, so staying relaxed and patient helps them feel secure and focused. When you’re calm, they’re more likely to trust and learn.

🐾 Training Tip Tuesday: Train in Different Places! 🐾

Practice commands in new environments! 🏞️🏙️

Changing locations—like the park, backyard, or a friend’s house—helps your dog learn to follow commands no matter where they are, building confidence and focus.

Expose them to new sights, sounds, and smells! 🚗🐕
Training in different places adds distractions that help reinforce their skills. When they succeed in a busier environment, it means they’re mastering their training.

Keep it gradual! ⏳🐶

Start with quieter spots before moving to busier ones. By slowly increasing the challenge, your dog builds the ability to focus on you, even with exciting things around.

Barricaded subject training this week

The primary focus was introducing many distractions and maintaining a calm and quiet k9.

Realistically, some calls entail being on a post for hours for nothing to even happen. The dogs have to be ok with that. If they’re losing their minds, that becomes a handler safety issue.

We know these guys will bite, so now we work a bit of control.

Distractions we used
- irate subject (yelling, slamming doors, etc)
- sirens and commands over the car PA
- gunfire
- other K9s present
