Our 4 large supplies of puppy breath have arrived - safe and sound and right on schedule.
Anyone wanting to share a dose or two can let me know as the suppliers turn 4 weeks old this weekend.
Socializing is a valuable asset here and as long as you don't visit a dog park and your hands are clean, I'd happily share some with you.

First soaked kibble was a huge success!
For the first few meals I grind the kibble to allow it to absorb water easier. Boiled water from the kettle makes for a warm meal once it's carried to their room to eat it.
Introduction of gruel is beneficial in two ways: it teaches them how to lap instead of suck and it gives them something solid in their mouth that also tastes good.
Once their teeth erupt and are functional, they will start on whole kibble soaked in water, to finally kibble on it's own with the availability to fresh water.

Early Neurological Stimulation is complete, eyes and ears are all open, p*eing and p**ping on their own and now out of the pen crawling around on the floor while I'm cleaning. They have the choice of walking on towels or on the laminate floor so they get accustomed to different surfaces.
Their current pen, the one they were born in, is in the same room as the other adults and their crates.

Looks like Marlo decided that stand up milk bar training starts today!
Mommas know best and I never discourage their actions.
Mommas typically go into the pen to p*e and p**p the pups first. Then she stands to eat her kibble that is given free choice in the black bucket, and that's after their normal raw breakfast and supper.
Then after all those needs are met, she will lay down for the pups to nurse, or in this case, start training them to nurse while she is standing, so she can eat at the same time.
In the next few days I will start them on soaked kibble, which I grind first to make it easier to absorb water. Not sure this crew will be as keen on it because they are fat as butter and certainly not hungry.
Onward and upward!
