I’m sure we’ve all heard the fact by now that more dogs go missing on 4th of July than any other day of the year. But here I am to remind everyone with dogs to be mindful of this holiday.

I’m sure you’ve all heard the fireworks already starting, and they’re only going to get more abundant as the week goes on. Fireworks are scary for most dogs, but even the most well trained ones accustomed to them can become fearful during 4th of July celebrations due to the sheer amount of fireworks. Remember, it’s not just about the loud noise, but also the strong smell and the vibrations.

Please be sure to keep your dogs inside, within a fence, or on a leash this week for their safety. Fear can turn even then smartest, best trained dog into a runaway. And don’t be afraid to use extra resources to help your more frightened dogs through the week! Happy hoodies, thunder shirts, and extra pets go a long way. Happy February, everyone 🐕‍🦺
I want to take a moment to inform you all that there is a dangerous strain of Canine Influenza Virus (CIV) circulating around the U.S. right now. It has been confirmed to have hotspots in DC, Texas, Arizona, and is spreading through the Southern states quickly.

This strain of CIV has been confirmed to lead to pneumonia in dogs and treatment has been relatively ineffective so far. Due to this information, I recommend keeping your dogs away from pet friendly locations for the next few weeks. This includes dog parks and pet stores, but also Lowe’s, Home Depot, and other pet friendly retail stores. Keep training at home for the time being and if your dog seems sick, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Big announcement for our current and future clients! Board & Trains and Stay & Trains are now open!

Board & Trains can last as long as you like and will give your dog a great start to learning basic commands and manners, as well as any advanced training you’d like! This is a great way to get your pup started on a path to be a happily trained furbaby!

Stay & Trains work similar to how doggy daycares do! Drop off in the morning and they’ll have a great time training, playing, and working on manners until you pick them up that evening. This is a great way to keep your pup occupied during the day and get great training results out of it!

Welcome Hunter to Indy K9 Project! This sweet hound dog is working hard on her confidence and impulse control. Her improvement from the evaluation to just the first lesson has been tremendous and I have enjoyed working with her and her mom so much!
