Why is muzzle training important?
This is why.
Some dogs will be the best behaved dog in the world...until it's time for a vet or grooming appointment.

Just because this behaviour isn't happening all the time, does that mean you shouldn't try and keep your pet professional safe while they take care of your pet? Absolutely not. It is 💯 your responsibility to ensure they are as safe as possible. Having them muzzle trained ahead of time also helps reduce THEIR stress during a difficult situation, instead of adding to it with something they haven't been accustomed to wearing.

Kudos to this owner for coming prepared and ready to be honest about their pup's difficulties. We're happy we were able to help keep everyone safe during this challenging groom with our muzzle.

Remember, just because you see a dog having reactivity issues like this, does NOT mean they aren't currently working on it with their owner. Training does not happen overnight, and you never know what progress has been made at any point. There's no shame at all in staying safe!

While the introduction of the new tariffs was nothing short of challenging, we have now navigated the situation and are fully able to ship without any additional fees or delays (and not to mention, headaches)!

A quick note to let everyone know we are back in our studio after a little bit of R & R time away.
While we've been gone, we understand that some US-customers have had complications with their muzzles currently in transit, and we have been closely monitoring the situation as well as taking immediate action to ensure a smooth delivery process moving forward.

TO OUR US-BASED CUSTOMERS:

✨UPDATE- SEPT. 5/25✨

It has come to our attention that some of our US customers are still receiving tariff payment requests despite our inclusion of the necessary documents showing our exemption. We are currently working with several parties to rectify this and we will provide a new update as soon as possible.

It is our complete intention to do whatever we can for our US customers to avoid paying additional tariffs on their orders; as the situation has been rapidly changing, we will continue to be as transparent as possible.

As of August 29th, the de minimis exemption for US imports under $800 will be coming to an end. This means that certain items now purchased from outside the US will be eligible for additional tariff charges when bringing them into the country.

However, the GREAT NEWS is that as things stand currently, our muzzles and all of our products will continue to be exempt, due to the fact that we make and manufacture everything here in Canada and we fall under the USMC Agreement.

This means you can expect NO additional fees or taxes to be charged should you reside in the USA and order a muzzle from us. 🎉 Should anything change in the future we will be sure to let you know, but you can continue to order your Mia's Muzzles to the US without worry!

This morning, while on a walk with my two pups, we were ambushed and very nearly attacked by a large dog.

Two children were the first to come running to help, after several minutes.

With me holding my two dogs, I was very nearly in the middle of a three-way dog fight. Anyone who has been there knows just how scary of a situation that is.

Thankfully, and ONLY due to the fact that we had muzzled up for our walk, no one was hurt. Especially the young lads who did their best to hold their dog back until an adult came running. What could have been a horrible experience ended with nothing more than everyone being severely shaken, instead of severely injured.

Starting to muzzle train your dog is not easy. The judgment from others can be a huge barrier, and I for one know how difficult that can be to get over. But no judgment is worth the safety of you, your dog, or others around you. All it takes is one incident, which can happen in a split second.

It doesn't make you a bad owner. It doesn't make your dog a bad dog.

Thank you to everyone who is responsible enough to know their dog and their boundaries, and to be proactive about preventing incidents such as this one. It's all worth it, trust me 💖

-Read through our Add-ons to find out what you might want to add to your muzzle
-Treat holes are great as a rule
-Forehead straps are handy for dogs with very short noses, or dogs that have shorter snouts in comparison to the rest of their head (e.g. some bully breeds, St. Bernards, brachycephalic breeds)
-Collar loops are handy for dogs with slick fur, dogs who's heads are the same approximate width as their neck, or just for additional security, to help prevent the head strap from coming up over the ears
-Badges can help send a message or two to those around you
-Add muzzle tints and nosepad patterns for a little extra flair!

We have had many newcomers in recent weeks, so I wanted to answer one common question we've been receiving...

"Can you make one for my dog?" 🤔

The answer is a resounding YES!!!

We have made for every breed, shape and size under the sun, and no matter what, we will never turn a dog down. If this means we need to spend extra time on the design process to make something work, that's exactly what we'll do. We exist because not every dog will fit into a standard-sized muzzle, so it's kind of what we really love to do the most. ❤️

So rest assured, your bull terriers, Chihuahuas and brachycephalic breeds are safe with us!! 😁
