Onyx update: We ended up needing to separate Boon and Onyx because someone (Boon) couldn't play nice. But he has been thriving with Eclipse and his puppy dog demor has come back and he is a giant goof. He is currently in his i want to stick everything in his mouth and wants to explore everything. We will pick his training back up once all the mud drys!

A person is only right 50% of the time. Me probably less. But I couldnt shake a feeling that something was wrong. So I braved the blizzard that we had last night. Visibly was almost zero, I couldnt see the line on the road and snow was falling fast. Time moved slow as I drove 20 mph on 254. It took me roughly 45 minutes to get to my horses. When i arrived they were all soaking wet and looked like drowned rats. So I checked on Boon, he was fine next horse, Goldie she was fine, I moved on to Onyx he was fine. I got to Eclipse, and my bad feeling was right. He was shivering. I quickly shut the gate to our 2nd pasture and got him into our Pen Onyx close behind his friend for moral support. I got Es halter on and proceeded to try him off with a towel and got his blanket put on and i felt better. Like a weight had been lifted of my shoulders and i could finally relax. That took about 45 minutes, then was time to drive home. What normally is easily a 15 minute drive. Turned into an almost hour drive. Going 15 mph on 254, visibility now zero. Thankfully I wasnt the only crazy person out and joined a caravan all the way to El Dorado. Before yall come at me for driving in a blizzard and not dealing with it sooner. I had things at home that i needed to do. He had also been without a blanket for a few weeks and his winter coat had grown out more then normal. But whatever my reasons were for not doing it sooner. I made it home Safe, and Eclipse is cozy in his blanket.

There are a few reasons Equestrians leave tack in our vehicles.... 1. mice 🐀🐀 2. We might need it later. 3. We dont wanna bus people around. 4. Your horse is at a barn and your bringing back from home cleaning it. 5. you just got paid and accidentally drove to the tack store and your hiding it from your partner..... Comment below why you keep tack in your vechicle!

Our year was filled with fun, some scares, but lots of love and family! We didn't do a lot of english shows which was a bit disappointing. But we were invited back to the Wild Horse Youth Challenge as a flag carrier. Eclipse and I practiced all winter and summer making sure we didnt make a fool of ourselves. During this time we also took part in the 3wc fun shows. We didnt win anything this year but it was filled with fun, laughter, and some tears. In August E had a minor vet procedure done,then the next month Boondocks decided he needed some attention. But little did i know this vet visits would become a monthly thing. But we made it to mustang days with out a hitch everything went as smoothly as it possibly could! Our heard even expanded my one. During this time Sam and I were also in the process of buying 20 acers so we were also busy with that. Thankfully we didn't have any vet bills in October, Eclipse and I started on mounted archery.But it didnt get far before it rained and he got some minor injuries. November is when he got the infection in his neck and i had to take care of. December it was Boons trun to need a vet visit. Ending the year, are there some things I would change, most definitely. But this has been one of the most productive years that we have had. We are so thankful for all the friends and family that have been with us this year. Thank you for standing by us and here is to another year!

It was super nice out so we decided to have a photo shoot today! We hope you have a happy new year! I can't believe its almost already 2024! I'll post some pictures of our journey this year! As well as a reflection post!

The next generation of horse trainers is her! My little sister is using her winter break to practice her horse leading and other fundamentals! Please give her a warm welcome! (like I know yall will) As she steps into her own world of horse training!

Update on Boondocks! Hes been healing very nicely and we have been sending pictures to the vet periodically. The vet had us wrap it for most of this month and now all we have to do is spray it with sliver spray and send another picture in a few days. Hopefully if all goes well and heals well!

UPDATE: Here is what Eclipses neck looks like currently! He has been healing well and there is hardly a mark! There are some bumps that I'm assuming are from the bite. But we are keeping an eye on it and it doesn't seem to bug him.

Update on Boon: He had his vet appointment today. His leg is healing fine. There was some proud flesh that the vet had to cut away. He has to have his leg wrapped and changed everyother day, he is also on antibiotics for at least 4 days. The only down side is he might have a "Cankle" for the rest of his life. Just due to the nature of the injury. But it shouldn't effect his future.

Well that didnt last long. We are now 4/5 months of going to the vet😔😔. Boon will be going to the vet tomorrow around 4 to get his leg checked out again. Then on top of it we also have a flat tire on my truck. I would like to tap out on our bad luck.

Updated on Eclipse. He clearly know how to make my heart stop. He was running around for over 2 minutes, while the other (smarter) horses were eating. Hopefully things continue to heal correctly. But he is now loose with his friends and hopefully they dont try to eat eachother again 🤞🤞

Being a horse mom is a full time job. I had to brave the snow to make sure everyone was nice and snug in their blankets. Had a small issue with getting the water heaters to work. But I finally got it working.

Today marks a week from when Eclipse went to the vet. He has been healing up well, and its getting better by the day. (I wont share the gorry pictures cuz they are kinda gross) He has been a trooper through this experience one we both dont want to experience ever again. He does amazing when i have to flush out the wound. The past 3 or 4 cleanings I have started to include streches before i flush the wound. Thats his favorite part. cuz of the carrots he gets. We would love to thank everyone for their thoughts and love that was sent our way, it meant a lot. Hopefully here in a week or two he'll be able to get turned out with everyone.

On better terms Onyx has settled in nicely. Tonight we had some fun and games with my dad handling him briefly so i could get a picture. The my dad put a hat on his head and wanted a picture. We also learned Onyx is roughly 15 hands which is about 5 ft(i was using a tape measure and holding a horse so its a rough rough estimate) Wild Horse Youth Challenge

8 hour update on Eclipse, he settled in at home nicely. He is currently staying in a future mustang pen. Hes eating amd drinking and moving his neck around. The vet had stuffed some betadine gauze into the wound and instructed me to pull it put tomorrow. But he said it would be fine if it came out on its on its own. Which it did so i went ahead and flushed it out again just to be safe (I'm not playing around). He will probably have a bite mark on his neck but it will go along with his crooked ear 🤦‍♀️ Please send loads of sanity, and thoughts of love as we step into this journey.

Well Eclipse went to the vet today. His sermoa got bigger and I had some more family look around (thanks Emmalee Emerson). He will be stuck in the new mustang pen for the 10 days it needs to be cleaned out. Whoever bit him split the muscle as well

They dont make it easy. He has a vet appt at 11:30 to determine if its strangles(hopefully not 🤞)or a Serome
EDIT: apon futher depth and looking around Sam and I believe that its a Serome. We are going to hold of on the vet appt to see if it will resolve itself we will be monitoring it daily and if it get worse or he physically starts to get worse and not feel good. We will get him to a vet ASAP

Now for the moment youve all been waiting for....... Onyx he was amazing. I'll go through each class. For the showmanship he placed 5th. I think if he would have trotted in hand then it might have been a bet better. Trail he did amazing as well, he didnt really want to pick up his feet and he didnt go through the water box but thats fine. She placed 3rd in that. In the freestyle she placed 3rd again, it was messy, and a bit thrown together but she made it work. She then placed 5th over all in her class. Now for the last question on your mind. Where did he end up?? well *ques drumroll* 🥁🥁🥁 My mother bought him! So you havnt seen the last of him! I'll try to post about him when I remember. But all in all Honesty had fun and it was an amazing experience for her! I also want to give a shout out to that kid. Over the last two months of training Onyx she has gotten up at 5 30 im the morning so she could go take care of him! But now i think she looking forward to that little bit of extra sleep. (I have more pictures on my laptop.... im currently posting this from my phone. So.... yeah.... that will be another post..... later)

Let me start off saying if you would have told 12 year old me that I gave up on being a vet and wanted to become a horse trainer I would have looked at you like you were crazy. Then probably argued. I am beyond proud of my crazy black mustang gelding. He took this weekend in stride and couldn't have made me prouder. Granted I think he missed his pasture and maybe Boon. But he did everything better then what I could say. He is truly one of a kind and I'm glad that he is in my life. Now that the Wild Horse Youth Challenge is over. Eclipse will get a few days to recover from all the stress and hectic life from being at the kansas state fair, and just be a horse. Thank you to all the spectators that came out and cheered the kids on. They all did great. But its finally over and i can stop stressing and also relax!

If you want a 100% bomb proof horse Onyx is your man. Due to being busy we had our 4th of July celebration a few days early. This man was chilling out underneath his fan and didnt pay anythought to them. This man is gonna go far! (video of what he was dealing with) Wild Horse Youth Challenge (pictures of him after the show he was more bothered by the camera flash then the fireworks)for reference it was 150 ft safely from his pin)

Something Boondocks with never aspire to be. a show jumper. Before all my old trainers come after me (cough cough Amber) Yes that is a western saddle, yes im wearing western boots. and yes I am wearing an imaginary helmet. Also they are now about 4 so I dont mind lightly jumping them. This is also his first time jumping.

Boondocks ride number unknown. He has been progressing really well. We are getting ready to ride him out in the pasture but we are just waiting in his bridle. He does have a bad habit right now of laying down when he doesn't want to be ridden.

Our round pen was a little muddy so he did have the bad slip, but he was fine after words. We were proud of him, he has come such a long way.
