Are slippers an appropriate retrieve item to use for a hold in a trick trial. Asking for a friend...
We really should be training for other things but I decided instead we will do the seesaw even though we don’t need it anytime soon 😂
3rd session in on it and I decided to test out the drop. We will go back to working on getting some more confidence going to the end, which I expected as Luca is weak against unstable surfaces. He does it but he isn’t super enthusiastic about being bonked around 😂
Moving to longreach has affected our ability to train on proper courses. So we haven’t done much for the past 4+ months but fat boi did not let me down.
Classic me coming home for 3 days and booking us into 2 agility comps this weekend 😂 So I quickly made a mad dash to Ali this morning to just double check how we were in the running department.
As always there are definite areas that we need to work on but we are so lucky to have EquiCanine always pushing us to improve and giving us plenty of homework 😂
In PJ’s and barefoot but we have moved on to removing the lure.
Not going as well as I would really like 😂 He just lacks the oomph factor and my biggest concern is ending up with a flat heel.
I would love to have the classic IGP style with the flashy footwork and intensity but I am feeling a bit deflated that we won’t not achieve that.
We need to move off food onto a toy but we are working on the toy release from the armpit.
I thought he’d have fast enough reflexes to get it first go but I was very wrong and ended up with a ball straight to his head 😂
We unfortunately had to put a hold to our online heeling training with Alba last year because of holidays and just being super busy! Finally will be starting again 😂 I don’t really know what I am doing but always trying to aim for those prancing feet 😂 Will be exciting to see the progress.
We have been a little MIA as we moved to Longreach! So we won’t be able to do as much training as we got to when we were on the coast but hopefully we will still come down to the coast on occasion for some seminars and comps! We’ve got our first ANKC comps planned over the Easter weekend which will be interesting after taking so much time off and the lack of training 😂 Luca is still living his best life running around everyday 🏃🏼
With Luca turning 18months old a week ago I decided to enter our very first agility comp this weekend 😝 We haven’t had a lot of exposure with tyres, spreads or broads so luckily we snuck in some sessions with EquiCanine this week. Thanks Ali for another great afternoon 💕
Lastly our vehicle search 🚗
I did a bit of a rookie error on this search and dropped food as I was walking out 😂 I ended up getting a fault because of it and ended up costing Luca a placing. Very sad days 😂
We finally got our videos from our NW1 searches!
Our final run for the night doing it in reverse 🔄
Another day another screaming zoom boy at training 😂 I do love him though.
He started knocking bars towards the end but I guess I’ll cut him some slack because we did quite a few runs today 😝
We are settling down with agility and other training for a little while but decided to attempt something a little different. Totally new for both of us but I’m excited to see how our heeling journey goes.
We are currently taking a heeling course with Alba Sand Hellman. Alba and her dog Judas are goals and if Luca and I look half as good as them I’ll be very happy 😂 A little snippet of our first attempt at luring in position.
Warm up with some straight lines to practice adjusting his stride to smaller spacings. Always using our Kellandy K9 tug 😝
Agility night again. Going back to practicing serps which we needed 😐 I’ve officially started teaching Luca weaves 😂 Taking it slow but we will get there.
Had our final seminar with Natalie Kirkwood for the rest of the year. So grateful to have had a great instructor help start us on our agility career this year. Had to run around in rain and thunder but Luca did not mind one bit still out here living his best life 😂
Same sequence but an earlier run when we did it in parts. I seriously have so much fun running this Chub 😂 Need to get fitter though because I’m always a sweaty mess after training.
We have been super lucky to have been given the opportunity to train at Double J agility now! First night today and the biggest sequence we’ve ever done. Was his last run after a big night so he dropped a bar which was a bit sad but still so proud of him 😍
We started muzzle training today. He makes me laugh sometimes 😂 Like a bloody chipmunk shoving as much as he can into his big jowls 🐿
