So obviously, I breed rats! The main intention is to breed feeders clearly, but I love and raise them just like any other pet. Just because they are destined to be food doesn't mean they should have a happy, comfortable life. I also thoroughly believe that raising my rats and bugs with top notch care, treats, and love translates to happier and healthier feeders for your reptiles as well.
For fun, I also like playing around with genetics and producing fun colors and cute patterns. Ive had some fun curly coated rexes, currently have some stunning siamese, and just whatever colors and patterns strike my fancy. One day, I hope to breed a crisp, clean hooded rat. Which would be a rat with color over their head, no white chin, and I want a solid, symmetrical line of color to tail. It's not been easy getting neat and clean markings, but one day, I will.
But another project has finally come to fruition. I've always wanted black-eyed white rats. This is not an albino. Check the black eyes! This is a rat that, through selective breeding, I've bred out any color or markings. She has a couple of litter mates who are 90% white, like a little red eyed champagne or siamese (have to wait and see how marking develops) that only has one tint spot of color. The whole litter has cute blazes and markings.
But this little girl has been a goal of mine for two years now. Here she is in all her adorable, teeny glory! I haven't decided what I'll name her yet. She's never going to be a feeder, and I hope I can use her with my breeders to produce more solid white, black-eyed rats!
I'm still working on a name, but I think something SPOOKY for the season would be fitting. π§‘π€π§‘π€
