We have played with the predatory sequence in our dogs to make certain parts more or less prominent, so they could perform certain jobs for us.
When we look at breed traits and which part of this sequence our dogs like to perform best, we can then look at ways to better fulfil them.

Let’s get comfortable with the uncomfortable! We can’t always do it right, sometimes our actions might increase undesirable behaviour in our dogs.

The first thing to help this is to realise it. Then we are almost there. Working with behaviour challenges is as much about working on our own reactions as our dogs.

Because it’s a journey and the best part is we get to go through it together!

Real time training. First time attempting remote retrieval. Not the smoothest but he worked through it with some assistance. He is a great sport and is a very forgiving learner even when my setups aren't well layed out or broken down far enough for better success.
I would never have thought I would be working with a forgiving terrier that likes retrieval work! He is a special guy thank you RDRR Cairn Terriers for having such a fun line of spunky pups!

It's way more fun sharing training bloopers. Don't take puppy training so seriously. Also lock yourself in a cat free/low distraction room to get successful repetitions and learning new behaviors.

Might not have duration down but the fact that he went back to get his flowers when asked 😍 this boy enjoys retrieving more then any other terrier i have worked with so far. A great trait of his line 😁

Today "it" has begun. He stole and ran away with his first of many shoes to come. This is a beautiful mark of aging for many a puppy. That time when they go from beautiful oblivious Angels that bite alot. To beautiful rebellious thieves. You will be questioning how devious your puppy is. They have left all the forbidden objects alone for 2+ weeks, lulled you into a sense of peace. Then in one fell swoop, one singular day they destroy everything you marked as safe.
Welcome to stage 2 of puppyhood. I hope you all did your preparation for this day and are not caught unaware.

Working on getting the life vest sized correctly before we need it near the water.

Sized and bought a life vest. Next step paddle board and kayak training! This was his first experience having to try on a new outfit in public. He wasn't thrilled but he thought the tags were pretty yummy. After that we got some bulk treats and he really wanted to take a swim and sample them.
