Little Simon the orphan kangaroo came in a couple of weeks ago , sadly his mum wasn’t so lucky & fortunate for him a beautiful family driving past seen him and brought him to me . After some care and hydration Simon was sent to a mob of other red kangaroos , he can grow strong and eventually be released back into the bush 💚🦘At the moment we have 13 young kangaroos 🦘 on bottles but no reds , to ensure the best outcome these orphans must be reared with others of their same kind , the bonds they form are solid and essential to a secure life in the bush .💚🦘

I don’t mind spiders 🕷️ sharing my space , they have a job to do keeping the place clean of creatures ..as long as they stay hidden .. this beauty took off pretty quick and I haven’t seen him since ..think I scared him

Found a shed this arvo of one of our resident Yoorn / shingleback lizards (Tiliqua rugosa)🦎🦎 ..how cool to see that perfect leg and back skin shed.
🦎Reptiles skin doesn’t expand as they grow, so shedding makes room for new skin, this is called ecdysis.
🦎Before shedding, the skin may darken and an oily substance forms between the old and new skin.
🦎The reptile may rub its head on something abrasive to tear open the old skin.
It then works its way through the old skin, leaving it inside out.
🦎Young reptiles shed more frequently than older reptiles, shedding removes dirt, parasites ,dead skin cells, and bacteria.
🦎It can promotes a smoother skin surface that helps with heat absorption, hydration, and respiration.
How cool are Reptiles 💚🦎🐍

When you bring back a compromised orphan Joey back to full health, every milestone is celebrated with even greater pride .Adam was brought in and sadly hadn’t been fed by the people who took him after shooting his Mum, they didn’t call me intil he was nearly dead, intense care & time brought him back to life . I am so proud he choose to fight to stay alive ..we love you Adam 💚

Snakes can come up through your septic systems...it can happen ..in the north of Western Australia it’s mostly frogs you need to watch out for in the toilet bowl :
While this highly venomous reptile (if your bitten ) wasn’t in a Gold Coast apartment, it was in a bathroom in Sydney ..& thankfully relocated.

Big Fundraising tommorow at the Wildlife Park ,I will be feeding the crocodiles at 10am , & if weather permits doing a Kangaroo talk , ..raffles and lots more but importantly it’s to save Betty White the orphan deer. If there is times we need you to show up or support then this is it ..get there early and beat the heat —🐊🐊 feed 10am
Deers are not native to and are classified as pests . Betty White named by me came in the same week we lost the dear human Betty White .She was worth rescuing like all creatures.Laws have changed and Bettty White needs a new enclosure or has to Be euthanised or found another home with the now corrected fencing requirements. She has grown up & loves her mob of sheep and goat friends . She is the most beautiful natured and brings great joy to many kids & adults who will never get to see a deer , especially in December for Xmas .Tommorows fundraiser is for the materials for new pen for Betty White , the labour has been donated by local businesses which is amazing .Help us keep her in whatever way you can .. oh and share in any capacity so we can reach our target ..large business donations or private ones can have signage on enclosure enquire at email listed on last pic ..
Hope to see you there bright and early ..9am
