Short and sweet update on Jolene, she’s been thriving out in the pasture with her other baby friends! I took some comparison pictures just the other day after I gave her a bath and wow 🤩 what a change! I love roans for this reason, you never know what you’re going to have every few months 🥳
She has the sweetest temperament and loves to be the big boss in the pasture. She’ll come up for loves and will stand getting scratches for hours on end. I love being able to watch her grow and mature, so glad I made the decision to be her forever home!

Got to get Jolene out on a group outing with Stevie, Reveka, and Scout. We all walked about 3.5 miles. Getting passed by bikers, cars, other riders, dogs, runners, and fishermen. Was also her first time being hauled out properly and she walked right into the trailer both times with no problem. Love working with these babies!

Jolene let me trim all 4 of her feet today! Set out to at least get the fronts but she was so good that I decided to tackle the back. She did great!

Worked Jolene after work this evening and we lunged on the line, then worked on haunch turns, forehand turns, side passing, backing, trotting in hand, and picking up all four feet! Such a smart baby so willing to please!

We started out in the arena but caught a break in the rain and took to the trails! We were able to do the full loop on our second time being ponied! Lots and lots of water crossings, including one that went to her belly, and even some trotting! So so happy with how she is doing! Persistence pays off 😊

Went on a little ponying adventure today! Besides when heading back my riding mare wanted to speed walk and Jolene wanted to walk the speed of a donkey, it all went smoothly!

Worked on being sent in on her own without me standing in the trailer to see how she’d handle it and after she had the time to check it out she walked right in!

Jolene got to meet and play with my other filly Stevie who is from the warm springs reservation. I’ve had her since she was born. It was fun to compare the different confirmations as they are the same age!

Woof, today was a rough work session. Jolene decided that the only direction she wanted to go was backwards towards the stalls. No ifs, ands, or buts. Finally managed to get her outside (it’s usually less than a minute walk away, it took an hour.)
But in the end, we managed to do some proper lunging in the outdoor. Headed back to the barn and circled through the aisle way a few times to ensure we ended the session on a good note! She’s a stubborn and strong gal but hey, so am I. ✨

Day 3 we’ve ventured out to the round pen for the second time. Stood tied in the stall for the third time, stood still for grooming all over (we really love butt scratches) and for picking out all 4 feet!
