Adventures of Rowdy: The Sn**ch & Scarf

This Thanksgiving we split up our family to travel & visit extended family. We did split up Rowdy & Remi, but of course they kept our trips eventful.

Rowdy went with me to Houston to spend a couple days with family. We had to drop the daughter off at the airport Saturday morning and Aunt Cheryl stayed behind to finish up making homemade cinnamon rolls. We were back within the hour and as soon as I walked through the door I got to hear about Rowdy’s mischievous adventure.

Aunt Cheryl was in semi- panic state. She explained the cinnamon rolls were in a glass baking dish covered with a dishtowel, sitting on the counter so they could rise. She uncovered them to place them in the oven when she noticed 3/4 of the rolls were gone!! She realized that is what Rowdy must have been licking up off the floor.

Rowdy had gotten into her cinnamon rolls without disturbing the dish or towel!! She never witness the SN**CH & SCARF, only Rowdy licking up the remanence off the floor.

About 20 minutes had past since the SN**CH & SCARF had taken place. I imminently called our veterinarian back home and explained the situation. We were advised that Rowdy needed to be seen immediately because the yeast dough consumption can cause life threatening complications in pets (Bloat, bowel obstruction, twisted gut, & alcohol poisoning from fermenting yeast).

I found an emergency vet and rushed Rowdy there. He did vomit a good amount of the dough prior to getting him loaded up in the car. The time between Rowdy’s cinnamon roll feast, to vet induced vomiting, was about one hour & fifteen minutes.

The vet tech had come out to the car, were we waited for our Rowdy, and she had a camera with her. They had taken a picture of all the goodies that Rowdy vomited up. These goodies included the cinnamon rolls & THREE bright orange earplugs. The vet wanted to bring these additional findings to our attention as it can be problematic if not stopped.

This event I am thankful for; It was a blessing in disguise!

We did not play the wait & see game with the raw cinnamon roll dough, and Rowdy was never in any visible distress (aside from the one vomit). Finding the earplugs & bringing that to our attention was very valuable information. We know we have to be more cautious with Rowdy, and child proof our home! If any future medical issues or abnormal behavior should arise, we know where to start looking!

In case your curious, the earplugs were Aunt Cheryl’s. She claimed them! She said she had noticed them missing from her nightstand. She thought she may have just misplaced them and just got a new pair. This is good to know because I wear green earplugs and keep them on my nightstand. Ole Rowdy Boy may have gotten a couple of them too 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Rowdy rings the bell to go outside! I made a bell and hung it on the door. It took him 20 minutes to learn this. It took a couple days to perfect it all the way through.

Now he’s a smart fella! When Rowdy starts training on a new skill, he gets treats whenever he performs, even when not commanded to do so. Needless to say he had that bell-a-ringing! 🐾

Sorry haven’t posted on Rowdy lately. He’s had to take a break from his rigorous training schedule.

Here he is getting a little R&R. Very soon “R&R” will have a different meaning around our house! Cant wait to share that tid bit!💕

Rowdy had a significant UTI has been on antibiotics. Rowdy is not a big water drinker and when he is at board-and-train he was not drinking enough. Being home allows us to encourage & monitor his water intake. An additional contributing factor for his UTI was the type and amount of treates he was receiving. We change his treats to hypoallergenic & been making our own also. He is feeling so much better now! 🐾

When you get a new toy and can’t wait until you get home 🐾

He came across the arm rest to fetch his toy from the bag before we even got out of the store parking lot! Too bad I didn’t capture that!
My mind was trying to process what the heck he was doing 😂.

Today our Rowdy is 20 weeks old. This treat ball was one of his first toys. I have to say it’s one of his top favorite toys. Made by Omega Paw.
