They can be adopted through the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area.

Attention! We have a new lil 11 day old tater tot 🥔. Miss Kris came to from a TNR feral mom that gave birth at the shelter. I got to meet her minutes after she was born! Her mama (Jamie) ended up not being so feral, and we were able to easily get her out to foster with . Unfortunately, Mama Jamie caught a URI during her small time at the shelter, and her milk supply quickly depleted, leaving the kittens with nothing to eat.

After sending 2 of 5 kittens off with another mama, and her family decided to try and bottle feed the other 3 kittens on their own for the first time ♥️! They've done an amazing job, but unfortunately Kris wasn't eating still. She was crying when trying to feed her, which could easily lead to aspiration. It's definitely a lot to handle for first time bottle feeders, so I said, "Bring her to me!"

It seems as though she's caught her mom's URI and she can't breathe through her nose, leading to panic while bottle feeding. The solution? Tube feeding! Since yesterday, she's now gained about 20 grams with consistent tube feeding. I'm also giving SQ fluids as well as keeping a humidifier next to her at all times to help loosen up that mucus! I'm just working on getting her through the URI and gaining consistently, so fingers crossed this strong little girl continues to pull through.

We got to visit a workshop today to learn even more about kittens! Several of the fosters came with me, and we had a great time. A lot of the info I already knew, but it was a great refresher and gave me confidence that I've been doing/saying the right things when it comes to kitten fostering. My son got to meet Hannah....again (scroll for the first time 5 years ago), and she signed his book. It's great raising kids that love cats as much as I do!

Meet Ramona! She's our newest foster kitten, and we will only have her another week until she is fixed next Thursday and then will be available for adoption. She's a little shy, but she's extremely sweet. She sits gently on both of my kids' laps, and she has a little, rumbly purr. Her eyes are some of the bluest that I have ever seen. My foster, Gingersnap, got the pleasure of visiting the residents at assisted living facility today with other dogs and cats! I think all of his practice being patient with my 6 and almost 3 year old really paid off. Gingersnap was a true gentleman with all of the residents. He's not the first Texas Kitten Adventures foster kitten to visit The Blake Assisted Living Facility. Cotton got to be spoiled by all the attention a few weeks ago! What a great way for our shelter to give back and bring joy to others. Plus, I'm pretty sure Gingersnap enjoyed all of the attention!

This is why I continue to foster kittens. Not only are we saving little lives, but they directly bless my family and me. My daughter is feeling sick and super needy at the moment. Who to the rescue? Marmalade! Marmalade is my little cuddle bug who usually settles right into the crook of your arm when you pick him up. He's doing a great job with making my daughter feel a little happier and less under the weather.

Some updated pics of Butternut, Gingersnap, and Marmalade! All 3 are males that look exactly the same, so they have little Velcro collars to tell them apart with the same colors as their names above. They're seriously the sweetest boys, put up with my 6 and 3 year old, and just have the best personalities overall. I got them as little beans at around 6 weeks old, and they're now 8-9 weeks old. They'll be ready to go in about a month, and 2 are already spoken for ♥️.

Hey everyone!!! I've been SO BAD with posting on here. I had a giant move, job update, and we found out I'm pregnant and due in June 😳. I've still been fostering, but it's been a lot of medical cases that I keep for a week or so, and then I take back to the shelter once they're healthy enough for a less experienced foster.

Right now, I have 5 fosters!

🧶 Cotton is a sweet fluffy little girl getting spayed in a few weeks, and she already has some interest!
🟠 Goober is a ginger male tabby who has done a complete turn around from a sniffly, lethargic, anorexic kitten to the handsome boy he is today. He's getting fixed next week!
🧡🧡🧡 Lastly, I have a set of 3 ginger males that I have raised from tiny bottle babies. They should be ready to go in about a month and a half and they are all the sweetest!

So here's my latest update, and I'll try to be SO much better with posting!

It's been awhile since my last post because I've been REAL busy, BUT these 2 will finally be getting fixed in the next couple of weeks. They just got their 3rd FVRCP vaccination today, and Doodles is recovering perfectly by snuggling on my lap. His face doesn't look too happy, though, because I had to poke him with a needle. 😂 If you're interested in Doodles, message me on here! Chicken already has a pending adoption, but I'd love to get Doodles a home before he goes to get fixed so he doesn't have to spend any time in a cage at the shelter (since he's so used to running around around my house).

Meet Chicken🐔 and Doodles🐥! We got them on Friday from and think they were about 5-7 days old at the time. We had this Chick-fil-A fry container hanging around, and my son thought it would be cute to get a photo of them in it. So, this will be their "grow with me" photoshoot - a fry container 😅🐔. I was told by a former adopter that worked at Chick-fil-A that Doodles was the name of the original mascot, and Chicken just seems like a cute kitten name and obviously works. They are both good eaters, and they just lost their umbilical cords yesterday! They have 2 more siblings their age that are in a different foster home. For mental health and time reasons, I just couldn't take on all four. 3 bottle babies are my max, and I wanted the other 2 to have each other in another home.

It's been awhile since I've been on here since I haven't had any fosters except for an adult male named Harry. Harry has a crazy story!!!

🐈 I heard a cat meowing strangely in my backyard a couple of months ago. When I got to the corner of the fence where I heard the noise, I found a large adult male cat stuck in the fence by his back right foot. It looked like he had tried jumping over the fence, and his foot had slipped between the slats of the wood and it was severely mangled at this point.

🔦 It was about 10:00 at night, so using the flashlights from our phones, my husband, neighbors, and I worked on getting this cat out of my fence. In order to not get bit, I made a catch pole with rope going through a PVC pipe. We were able to get this over his head and lift him up a bit in order to get his foot unstuck from the fence.

🏥 I got him into the vet the next morning with the help of our local animal shelter Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, Inc. and he went in for a leg amputation because of how mangled his leg was. Unfortunately, he had to undergo 2 more surgeries to remove dead tissue and infection because the skin was so compromised and torn up from him flailing to try to get loose. We really didn't think he was going to make it because of the severity of the infection and he had an open wound that required hydrotherapy and sugar iodine packing for about a month and a half.

⛑️ Once he was stable, I offered to foster him until he was completely better. I posted him everywhere, but no one came forth to claim this sweet boy as their pet.

🧡 Harry is now living as a tripod and can jump onto and off of the couch and counters! The lack of leg definitely hasn't slowed him down with showing my cat, Cheddar, who is boss when it comes to wrestling matches.

Since his care involved so many surgeries and follow-ups, the shelter started a GoFundMe which is included at the bottom of this post. Any bit helps with this burden that the shelter has taken on for a rescue kitty.

While we've had sub-freezing temps here in South and Central Texas, the kitties always find a way to keep warm. Lots of snuggles together on the heated blanket!

So...we foster failed with Cheddar 🧀. It has been 6 or 7 years and hundreds of kittens since we kept one. My son was very bonded to Cheddar, and our youngest cat is about 7, which is a good distance between getting cats. Honestly, my husband pushed for it the most, haha. How did we surprise the kids? Well, Pizza the Elf returned last night, and he's already making mischief by adopting our foster kittens for us (it's how my son found out we were keeping Cheddar). Welcome to the family, Cheddar!
