😆I discovered my son walking around with this muzzled unicorn lol he told me “she’s been bitey so she has to wear a muzzle” 🤣😂. For him being only six years old, I think he’s onto something here lol.

🗣️We could talk about proper fitting, appropriate muzzle choice, muzzle desensitization, not having kids put muzzles on biting animals etc. lol but…

When you have a unicorn who is biting, and you are a kid, you have to act fast! 🤣😂🤣😂🦄

Have you ever had to muzzle one of your unicorns? 😂😂😂

❓Is your dog nosy or all up in your business, or your guest’s business?
❓Does your dog bark, paw or whine at you when you are not giving them attention?
❓Does your dog beg for food or jump on the table when you are eating?
❓Does your dog struggle with being confined or away from you?
❓Does your dog jump up on you and get in your space even when it’s not convenient?
❓Does your dog experience FOMO?

It takes not only Training but willpower, to understand how beneficial this skill is for dogs. I promise, you will find peace and happiness at the end!

there are a couple of ways to get started with teaching your dog to relax:

1) Tethering
2) Crate, gate or pen confinement
3) Structured time away from the excitement and daily happenings

The absolute hardest part about this process, is sticking to it! Getting rid of guilt and understanding you are replacing anxiety with calm. Because believe it or not, dogs who have to have access to you 24 seven, don’t like to be away from you, and don’t know boundaries, our dogs who struggle with being at peace within themselves.

Give them the gift of contentment, and reduce codependence!

Polite public outings don’t happen by magic — they’re built with practice, patience, and handler skill. 🐾

Your dog needs to learn:
Heel, sit, down/settle & finish ✅
Back up, behind & around obstacles ✅
Ignore distractions (food, kids, other dogs, noises) ✅
Calm car rides & waiting politely ✅

Real-world skills take time and trouble-shooting — and that’s exactly what we focus on in my Leash & Learn classes! Small groups, real public outings, and hands-on coaching for both you and your dog.

Want calm walks, relaxed cafés, and stress-free errands? 🌟

🐕Let's talk: Belly rubs...

"To rub or not to rub, that is the question." -Leanne (just now)

💡 Did you know? Dogs should their bellies for more than one reason, and it's not always for belly rubs!

Spot these behaviors in the dogs in your life to see if it's a yes or a no:
❌On their back and stiff
✅On their back and wiggling
❌Tense face- avoiding eye contact
✅Loose face, makes eye contact
❌Does this when overwhelmed, bombarded or under duress
✅Flops over out of joy and fun, not tension
❌Paired with cowering, submissive urination, ears pinned back, tail tucked, rapidly wagging tail end
✅Paired with loose body language, and willing engagement
❌Seems relieved when you stop, go away, may shake off and try to decompress after
✅Seeks more belly rubs at other times, when they could easily avoid or do something else
❌When you stop rubbing their belly, they stay still or even get up and leave
✅When you stop rubbing, they move their body in a way to get your attention (pawing, looking at you, giving kisses, rolling over more)

⚠️Even dogs who say yes sometimes, may say no other times.

❓So, do you think Willow wanted more belly rubs?

🙏🏼Learn about the species in your family, so we can stop perpetuating misunderstandings that escalate to fights, bites, shelter surrendering and unnecessary stress!
