I started putting out a little trash barrel for dog walkers to drop their p**p bags into because there's no public trash cans near my street, and it stinks when you're walking a dog to have to carry it's p**p around forever till you find one or get home.
Then I got some nice feedback that it was really appreciated, so it occurred to me that others elsewhere might want to do something similar.
The only real specific effort required outside buying a trash can was to put a sign up so people would know they can use it, but signs don't last in the weather, so I laminated it.
Most folks don't have the easy ability to make and laminate a sign, so I figured I'd offer that part to anyone who wants to give it a go. I also shared a doc to let anyone just print their own or use mine as a starting point and take it from there.
I suppose if a bunch of people were to take me up on the offer I might have to start asking people to cover costs, but I'm not to worried that'll ever be a problem, and if ever it were to become one then I guess that'd be one of what you'd call a good problem to have:).
