Let's get real for a second.

The world often paints a picture that dogs who live together are best friends and do everything together.

This is just not true. Many many many multidog household utilize management in different situations to allow dogs personal space to enjoy things such as:

- feeding time
- chew time
- play time
- attention time

This. Is. Normal.

Just because someone utilizes management, doesn't mean their dogs don't enjoy each other's company or have fun together. It just means that there are certain activities that they prefer to do on their own.

And I will tell you firsthand that implementing safe space zones and time apart can be so beneficial to the relationship between two dogs.

Think about it-- do you enjoy doing every single activity that you do at home with your spouse, family, or sibling RIGHT there? I don't think so.

So let's normalize management between dogs who live together!!

I never have the right words to express how heartbreaking it is when a client dog passes away. I’ll always cherish the moments I got to spend with Mackay and seeing his goofy personality always brightened my day. Losing our pets is like losing a piece of our heart, so please send love and positivity to his mom Susan and his little sister Addy while they’re going through this difficult time❤️

Congratulations to my final Terrific Teens class! This was such a fun group to end my time teaching classes in Washington! I am so happy I got to meet so many wonderful students (both the dogs and their humans) through teaching these classes❤️

Couldn’t have put it better myself!

Did you know that a fully developed dog brain has the cognitive ability as a 2-4 year old child? Typically when I explain this to clients, it gives them a better understanding of what expectations we can realistically put on our dogs. It also eases frustration and gives them a bit more compassion knowing our dogs aren’t intentionally trying to spite us or be stubborn. But in reality our dogs problem solving abilities are that of a toddler. With that being said, there are ways we can communicate with our dog to let them know that we don’t like a behavior that aren’t forceful corrections and scolding. Look at Lodee go! She has been learning to love her muzzle over the past few weeks and has just started wearing it during our training sessions. Lodee is very nervous around unpredictable stimuli like kids and other dogs. Teaching her to love her muzzle will allow both Lodee and her mom to have more stress and worry free training sessions around those stimuli! Remember that a muzzled dog is a dog who is working hard on their training and is taking an extra step to keep themselves and others safe while doing so!

I’ve recommended and befriended so many of the trainers who won. It is so exciting to see them being acknowledged for all the amazing work they do for the community and animals.

I wanted to officially announce on here that I’ll be moving out of the PNW this August. I have absolutely loved getting to know and work with so many wonderful dogs and their equally wonderful humans. I truly want to thank every single one of you who has supported me through enrolling in any of my training services, sharing my posts, or following me here! It has meant so so much to me. This definitely is not the end of my journey as a dog trainer as I hope to continue working in this field down in LA as well! If you want to see where this journey takes me I would encourage you to continue following me here. I doubt this is a goodbye to Washington forever and more of a see you all later❤️

Is your dog not quite a puppy anymore, but still full of that puppy energy? Come join us in Terrific Teens! This is a class for dogs ages 5 months to 2 years old. Here we focus on advancing skills from any Puppy Basics class, learn how to work through distractions, and learn some brand new skills as well! Don’t worry if you haven’t taken a class prior to this one! All experience levels are welcome! By the end of the class you will have learned how to teach your dog to politely greet people, walk on leash, settle on a mat, and other useful cues! This class runs on Saturdays 2:30-3pm and will begin next week so click the link below to enroll before it’s too late! Classes will be held at the Dog Spot in Everett.
