So many pet parents think arthritis means their dog has to slow down.

When your dog loses muscle, movement becomes harder and more painful.
That’s why strengthening is the key to keeping them comfortable and confident for longer.

Freja is living proof – 13.5 years old and still walking strong because we kept her moving.

Your dog can do the same!

We’ve seen the vet every week for the last 5 weeks! Between managing her GI issues and trying to get her the right pain relief, we’ve had a tough month!

Now her right elbow seems to be collapsing at times when we walk 😢 I’ve bought an elbow brace to help manage the discomfort when walking but we will focus on strengthening to support the joint.

If you’re a pet parent of a senior dog, give yourself a pat of the back! We all deserve it! It’s a joy but it’s a struggle too! 💙🐾

So hard to share but something I wasn’t aware of and maybe others weren’t also!

Strength training is vital for our staffies!

Staffies are 50% more likely to suffer a cruciate ligament (CCL) tear.
Whether it’s their bony make-up or their full-throttle behaviour, their knees are under constant stress.

The good news? You can help reduce the risk of a tear and all the drama associated with it!
Strengthening exercises build muscle support around the joints, improve stability, and give your staffy the best chance of staying strong and injury-free.

Just ten minutes a day can make all the difference.

Small bundle = weak dog.
Big bundle = strong dog.

As dogs age, they naturally lose muscle through a process called sarcopenia – age-related muscle loss.

When this happens, their shrinking muscles get weaker. That’s why you may notice:
• Struggling to stand up
• Hesitating on stairs
• No longer jumping on the bed or couch
• Shorter, slower walks

The good news? You can fight back. With the right strengthening exercises, you can rebuild those “muscle strands” and get your dog stronger and moving comfortably for longer.

That’s exactly why Freja is still moving so well at 13 years and 4 months, all because we’ve kept her muscles strong by fighting sarcopenia!

If you want to help your dog fight sarcopenia then you can find all the best strengthening exercises inside The Dog Rehab App.

Exercises can truly change your senior dog’s life!! 💪🏼💙🐾

Long nails increase pressure through the joints and leads to pain!

Paw care is vital in all dogs but particularly for senior and arthritic dogs.

As a Physio I’ve never had long nails in over 20 years but these were ANNOYING. I can’t imagine how annoying and painful they are for our dogs!
