We’ve seen the vet every week for the last 5 weeks! Between managing her GI issues and trying to get her the right pain relief, we’ve had a tough month!

Now her right elbow seems to be collapsing at times when we walk 😢 I’ve bought an elbow brace to help manage the discomfort when walking but we will focus on strengthening to support the joint.

If you’re a pet parent of a senior dog, give yourself a pat of the back! We all deserve it! It’s a joy but it’s a struggle too! 💙🐾

So hard to share but something I wasn’t aware of and maybe others weren’t also!

Strength training is vital for our staffies!

Staffies are 50% more likely to suffer a cruciate ligament (CCL) tear.
Whether it’s their bony make-up or their full-throttle behaviour, their knees are under constant stress.

The good news? You can help reduce the risk of a tear and all the drama associated with it!
Strengthening exercises build muscle support around the joints, improve stability, and give your staffy the best chance of staying strong and injury-free.

Just ten minutes a day can make all the difference.

Small bundle = weak dog.
Big bundle = strong dog.

As dogs age, they naturally lose muscle through a process called sarcopenia – age-related muscle loss.

When this happens, their shrinking muscles get weaker. That’s why you may notice:
• Struggling to stand up
• Hesitating on stairs
• No longer jumping on the bed or couch
• Shorter, slower walks

The good news? You can fight back. With the right strengthening exercises, you can rebuild those “muscle strands” and get your dog stronger and moving comfortably for longer.

That’s exactly why Freja is still moving so well at 13 years and 4 months, all because we’ve kept her muscles strong by fighting sarcopenia!

If you want to help your dog fight sarcopenia then you can find all the best strengthening exercises inside The Dog Rehab App.

Exercises can truly change your senior dog’s life!! 💪🏼💙🐾

Long nails increase pressure through the joints and leads to pain!

Paw care is vital in all dogs but particularly for senior and arthritic dogs.

As a Physio I’ve never had long nails in over 20 years but these were ANNOYING. I can’t imagine how annoying and painful they are for our dogs!

Dogs aren’t actually “lazy.”

If your dog doesn’t do what you ask, there’s always a reason:
➡️ They might be genuinely fatigued
➡️ The incentive might not be worth it
➡️ Or… the one most owners miss - it could be pain.

Here’s the thing: dogs don’t refuse to move just because they “can’t be bothered.”

If your dog slows down, avoids certain movements, or seems less engaged, that could be their way of telling you something hurts.

I put together a free Pain Guide that shows you the subtle signs most owners overlook so your dog doesn’t suffer in silence.🐶

Every dog owner wants their pup to live a long, healthy life. But here’s the thing: muscles don’t stay strong by repeating the same easy exercise forever.Just like humans, dogs need progression - starting simple, then adding challenge as they improve. That’s why in this Figure 8 drill, we move from:➡️ On the floor (easy)➡️ Over a cushion (medium)➡️ Up and down a step (hardest)Each stage builds strength, balance, and coordination so your dog isn’t just “doing exercise”- they’re actually getting stronger. And stronger muscles don’t just mean better movement…They mean less risk of injury, more playtime, and ultimately a longer, healthier life. That’s exactly what The Dog Rehab App is designed for - showing you progressions of each exercise that adapt to your dog’s ability, so they’re always improving and never plateauing.Your dog deserves more than just exercise. They deserve a system that helps them thrive.Want your pup to stay stronger for longer? Check out the Dog Rehab App today.Comment DogApp and I’ll send you a link to check it out!

Why are so many people okay with just letting their dogs age when we can fight for them to stay strong and mobile??I’m fighting every day for Freja to stay strong so she can move better and live longer. Here’s what most people don’t realise: the problems we blame on ageing, like struggling to stand, slowing down on walks, or hesitating on stairs, aren’t just “old age.”They’re stiffness and weakness. And we can do something about that. Our dogs deserve more than for us to simply accept decline. They deserve us fighting for their wellbeing, their mobility, and their longevity.Let’s fight for our dogs - because they’re worth it. 💙🐾Comment if you’re willing to fight and share this so others can join us!!!

Most dogs with arthritis are in pain longer than they need to be because of these 3 myths:
1. “It’s just old age, nothing you can do.”
2. “My dog should rest as much as possible.”
3. “Supplements are crucial”

Here’s the truth:
🐾 Arthritis is not just aging. It’s a medical condition you can slow down and improve.
🐾 Gentle, guided movement keeps joints stronger and less stiff.
🐾 A few minutes of strengthening exercises can make life easier, longer, and happier.

If you’ve believed any of these myths, it’s not your fault but now you know better to make a difference! Strengthening exercises are the secret to managing arthritis well that people don’t do!
