A sleeping bearded dragon is often a very ungraceful creature, with many a photo showing dragons asleep in their food or other unusual places.

But did you know beardies can sleep while standing on just their back legs?

More common in younger beardies, this peculiar resting pose is nothing to worry about and just a part of bearded dragon life!

It's a fancy Friday and a day to celebrate, whether it's a birthday, an anniversary or even just because it's the weekend.

Here to help is the party animal known as Smaug!

Not long after the last Smaug, today's featured beardie is less Lonely Mountain and more party central.

We love how smug Smaug is looking in a party hat.

With the last gasps (or groans) of spooky season drifting away in the wind, we have one more featured beardie to introduce, whose costume may well win first prize!

Here's the gorgeous Mordechi, all suited in the finest of bat wing harnesses, out on a sandy coast adventure.

If you can tear yourself from the glory of the bat wings, check out the eye markings on Mordechi too!

Dare we say it, but with Halloween now done... do we have any festive beardies waiting in the wings for December?

Yesterday you might have learnt, you might have loved or you might have lost.

Or maybe all or none of these things.

Whatever you experienced and went through yesterday, don't let it cloud your experiences today.

A fresh day is a chance to put something right, improve or explore.

Did your beardie not eat their greens yesterday?
Sure its annoying but it might happen today!

Although a loss of a limb doesn't grow back for a beardie, the loss of a tooth or even a few teeth can be temporary.

The front teeth of a bearded dragon, used for grabbing and tearing their food, can be dislodged so have evolved to grow back.

Even better for tackling those greens!

Which definitely means, they are no where near as edible!

If you get 'the look' when dishing up veggies, it probably translates to something like this.

We all love a good beardie, but it's always best to think before expanding your beardie family.

Many new owners of bearded dragons ask whether they can live together. The simple answer to this question is:

You should avoid keeping beardies together and you must question why you want to keep them together.

Beardies are naturally territorial animals, especially males, and having more than one in a small space can cause them to fight.

We've seen some beardies getting on well in our comments section, which is great! But in most cases, it's not a great idea to keep beardies together.

We think the more beardies there are in the world, the better!

So with clutches of upto 20 at a time, female beardies certainly do their bit.

In the wild, numerous predators mean babies are in a lot of danger.

But in captivity, safety is much easier to access with plenty of beardie lovers opening up their homes to tiny dragons!

Sometimes a photo opportunity, just catches a beardie when they least want to be disturbed.

We have a lot of love for Pikachu here, but we're not sure the feeling quite as positive when it came to posing.

When the lamp doesn't turn on and the human slave isn't getting the message, it can be said this is the next thought of a bearded dragon!

As we all know, a beardie likes their environment just right... and the presence of heat at the right time (or lack of it in this case) makes the difference between a content and a cranky dragon.

Heat lamp not on?

Just watch your beardie make a plan to hit the switch themselves!

When you are so comfy, that one last movement onto your hammock is out of the question!

That's the plan Oscar here has employed, with one leg just hanging off the edge of his rest station.

Whether you call this a lazy leg, loose leg or even a fancy leg, its a trait shared by many beardies.

We can't get enough of a lazy leg photo.

We often comment on how beardies need to eat their greens to stay healthy, but fruit is also a great part of a balanced dragon diet.

As with all food, its good to know what is safe and what isn't ideal for a beardie. With so many fruits out there, its best to be prepared.

Your beardie will love a small piece of fruit every so often and will see this as a treat. However, as fruits are rich in sugar, so ensure you don’t overfeed them.

Although we might think the similarities between ourselves and our beardies are limited, we do have some common ground.

As well as beardies also being omnivores, their scales are made from the same protein (Keratin) as our hair,

Naturally over time, the structure and function of Keratin has evolved to be very diverse.

However, the basic raw materials are the very similar between our hair and our dragon's scales.

How Bearded Dragon Guru Started?

I was just 15 years of age when I first met a bearded dragon. It was at my friend's house and I instantly grew an immediate attraction to, what has now become, my favourite animal on the planet! Making fantastic pets for both children and adults alike, they each have their own personality and are certainly full of character. There are, though, some important things that we should all know when it comes to caring for these amazing animals!
