Saturday Courses
On Saturday, we have two new courses at Lake 30 for everyone! We will have signs up once you come in the main entrance of Busch Conservation Area to guide you to where we will be (black signs with white lettering). Courses will be open for viewing at daylight each morning until the start of the handlers meeting - no dogs, only people.
Parking - The parking lot at this lake is not big enough for everyone. Once it fills, please park along the road keeping one set of tires on the gravel. Please keep all vehicles parked on the same side of the road to avoid impeding traffic. Do not park entirely on the grass (site rules). We think the champion course here will make up for parking along the road! If you have a female in heat, please park on the road, not in the lot.
The air out area will be the bean field opposite the lake. Any dogs on the lake side of the road must be on a leash that is in your hand.
Saturday’s working course is a bean stubble field that will include most of the tree line surrounding it. It should be a nice confidence building course to get the working dogs started in.
The Champion course is primarily timber with a portion of the course being more open with ground cover only. This course is an extremely realistic area for wild shed hunting, when we walked it out, we lost count of the number of rubs on this one. Be aware though, you can get tangled in the ground cover in the more open portion if you don’t pick your feet up, but there are deer trails you can follow that are easier walking. This course does run parallel to the road, but there is very thick vegetation/honeysuckle type bushes that make it impossible to see from the road or see the road from the course. The wooded portion could have some wet spots with all the precipitation this week as it sits below the lake dam. We really think this course will be a ton of fun for our champion dogs and handlers.
