There’s an entire industry dedicated to animal nutrition. Like actual scientists with degrees in nutrition. Not some person who got a wild hair and wants to rage bait people into thinking this is a good idea. Goats are 15 times the size of an average chicken. Feeding your chickens means they are getting 15 times or more of whatever is in goat feed. This would be like you eating food formulated for a blue whale. You have a responsibility to put out accurate and safe information to people.

Good morning from the Clucker Compound. Leia and Blue are outside for a bit. Artemis, Luna, Kore, and Hope are very competitive with the pecking order, so Blue will not be going back to that coop until we move into the Palace. Chickens are flock animals and they need their friends. The heat should be easier today. My house is at 78 so it’s not a shock to them. We’re trying! We need some clouds. It’s so hot. Chickens body temps are between 105-107 F. In this heat they are susceptible to dehydration and heat stroke. They don’t sweat and are wearing basically a feather coat. So I feel for them. We also don’t get these types of temperatures here in Maryland. This is very unseasonal and strange. Yes I know they are “jungle fowl” but they are my pets and I am worried. #petchickens #heatwave #maryland #mdbackyardchickens #chickenkeeping

Good morning from Leia and Blue! It’s still going to be hot today so they cannot go out. We’re trying a new approach with Leia. She is very thin. If she was on a body scale she would be a 1 or a 2. So she’s lost a lot of weight. The antibiotics have been rough on her little system. Today I made a mash of @purinafeedgreatness with some rooster booster probiotics and electrolytes, some molasses for added calories, and some @grubterra . The Purina is a flock raiser and I’m supplementing with these other things based on Leia and Blue’s needs. They will get some milk thistle in their snack this afternoon for liver support per my vet. #chickens #housechickens #beattheheat #princessleia #ilovechickens #fcancer
