It’s a special day at The Boring Safe Haven… it’s our founder, Sidnee’s birthday!

We want to wish the happiest of birthdays to our girl who deserves the world and more.

The Boring Safe Haven Society would not exist without Sidnee and her blood, sweat and tears she has wholeheartedly poured into this rescue, day in and day out.

The animals who have came and gone, some for lifers, your personal farm of animals, and us on the board love you so much!

From today’s adoption event, we’re so happy to say that our brother sister duo, Flash and Lily were adopted together!! 🥹

This is so bittersweet for us, especially having Flash since he was a tiny four weeker. These two are blossoming into such fun, loving, crazy kids.

We’re grateful for everyone who took the time to show our tiny kids some love and attention at Coastal. We will be back on the 23rd! 🩷

Each week we are inundated with requests of people wanting to surrender owned and found pets.
Each week we have to say no more than we say yes.
And each week our hearts break when we can’t do more.

Please be a responsible pet owner.
Please spay/neuter your pets. Please advocate for others to spay/neuter their pets as well.
Please budget for the costs of vet care and daily care for their basic needs prior to adopting an animal. Just as you would if you were to have a child, buy a car, etc.
Please hire a trainer if your dog needs extra guidance on how you’d like them to behave. If your dog is aggressive, the sad reality is that they don’t have a chance outside of a home with you.
Please exhaust all resources before deciding to rehome your pet. There are so many programs around for financial assistance, food assistance, training, etc.
Please understand that a free kitten will cost you anywhere from $200-$700 to spay/neuter. That doesn’t even include vaccines.
Please understand that a $150 puppy will cost you $500-$1,500 to spay/neuter. This also doesn’t include vaccines.
Please remember that emergency surgeries can be thousands of dollars and that emergencies do happen.
Please realize that these animals are living, breathing beings, and they count on you. They need you. They will live life spans of 5-20+ years. They are not disposable.
Please reach out if you ever need resources.
But please, please, please don’t be upset when we have to tell you no.
Please remember, this is all your responsibility, not ours, we are just here picking up the pieces, making a small dent in a very, very big problem.

We made a TikTok! We’ve been talking about creating one for a while, just never got around to it. We thought it would be a good idea to have some cute, fun videos of some of the kitties under our care for the exposure of getting adopted. 🥹🤍

We’re definitely new to this, so be patient with us 😅

Our first video is a special guy, Big Tune. He’s just a sweetheart with a sad backstory, but he deserves all the love and attention he desires. In the caption is a little bit of his background, but a more descriptive version is in our adoption posts on here.

💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

SIX more cats trapped and ready for TNR from the house we’ve been working on containing overpopulation issues at since earlier this year.

With limited resources and our day to day rescue efforts taking precedence we still try to help with TNR’ing when we can.

At this single house, we have now trapped a total of 27 cats and that will soon be a total of 27 cats fixed!!

🐱 More Adoptable’s 🐱

Adding a few more little faces to our arsenal of adoptable kitties we have.

This our “exotic” fruit litter 🥝🍒🍑

Here we have Kiwi, Guava, and Papaya!

We initially trapped them from a house in Sandy a couple months ago and we’ve been working with them ever since to get each of them fixed, vaccinated, and socialized.

While they are still a bit shy, we don’t want to do any of them the disservice of not being available for adoption since they are fully vetted now. They each just need a patient family willing to spend time with them and further gain their trust. They are not aggressive at all, just nervous.

Kiwi is the more tabby colored grey female kitten.
She is still a bit shy but she does love to play with her siblings and other resident cats in our care.

Guava is the grey male with slight tabby markings.
He is the bravest of the bunch and will come to you quickly if you have any treats or wet food in hand.

Papaya is the little black medium-haired female kitten.
She is the most reserved but still has blossomed so much since we initially took her in. She loves engaging with her siblings and other resident rescues.

Each of these babies is about 3.5 - 4 months old. They’ve been fixed, vaccinated with age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and dewormed.

We’d love to see them get adopted together but we know that’s a big ask!
Their adoption fee is $150 each or $200 for two
For the ideal and patient furever home, we could discuss an adoption fee for all three of them as well 🤍

We have quite a few babies waiting for their furever homes! Our Looney Tunes litter has been with us for a while now, and they’re growing quick! One of the boys was finally adopted in the perfect home!! There’s still a few Looney Tunes left and ready to find a home of their own!
In addition to these precious kids, we have plenty of other cute faces looking for homes and several more coming very soon! 🐱

There is no "perfect home" looking for your already owned dog that:
•Is under socialized
•Can't be with other animals (dogs/cats/etc)
•Can't be with children
•Has medical issues
•Lacks training
•Is aggressive
Or any combination of the above...

Rescues are full, shelters are full, adoptions are at an all time low and people surrendering animals is at an all time high. No one will love or put more time into your animal than you. You already know and love your animal, other people do not. It's hard to come to terms with but there is no one out there looking to take on your project.

🖤 ADOPTED 🖤

🐾🐈‍⬛ Don needs a home or temporary foster!! 🐈‍⬛🐾

🖤Don is around 1.5 years old!

🖤He is affectionate and loves attention. He does REALLY well with other cats and is very respectful of cats that don’t want to be his friend. He has helped a lot of his foster siblings come out of their shells.
He has briefly been around dogs and has done well.
He likes to flop on his back and get tummy scratches.
He is also a big fan of greeting people at the door if he notices someone is approaching.

🖤It would be best that he goes to a home that has another cat or a human companion that is able to give him a lot of attention.

🖤His current foster is going on vacation for about a month in October and we would love to see him adopted before then! Otherwise, we would love to find a temporary foster while his current one is out of town.

Your cat started to trust me today.
You remember the one? With the chunky face, lengthy body, and unique markings. He really is beautiful.

Your cat didn’t hiss at me today.
You know, the one you surrendered to us? We get life happens and circumstances change, but we don’t understand why you had to get him declawed. To tell you the truth, he also doesn’t understand why he no longer has claws and why he had to endure that kind of pain. He promises that if he scratched you or your furniture, he didn’t know what he was doing was wrong. Was it too much to ask to just trim his nails?

Your cat didn’t cower in his cage today.
You know, the one that loved you and trusted you? It’s okay though, because now he knows us, and while it will take time, we will do everything we can for him to learn to love us.

Your cat didn’t refuse to eat today.
You know, the one that probably never missed a meal while he was with you? When we first took him in, we could tell he was well-fed with those chunky cheeks and a little extra love on his hips. It’s okay though, I promise we will get him back to eating well and let him carry around a healthy amount of extra weight.

Your cat didn’t refuse to use the litter box today.
You know, the one that was surrendered for peeing in unfavorable places? We’ll be the first to tell you that we’d likely have some unfavorable behaviors if you had our fingers cut off too. Did you know that declawing a cat is similar to having your fingers cut off at the knuckle? Doesn’t sound ideal, does it?

Your cat finally learned to trust me today.
And while we hope that he finds his forever home outside of being in the rescue, we know that he hoped that his forever home would have been with you. It’s okay though, we will do whatever it takes to make him whole again. Just like we’re expected to do.
