We rely on people contacting us with information on setts and badger activity so please do get in touch. Cornwall is a large area to cover so If you could to be part of our network of helpers, mainly verifying road casualties/reports, please let us know.

Did you know?

The badger can grow up to 1 metre in size and has loosely fitting skin, which makes it difficult for an antagonist to get a firm grip on the badger in a fight.

A thick layer of subcutaneous (under the skin) fat develops during autumn in order for the badger to live off fat reserves when going into torpor during winter.

Disruption is expected all morning

14/11/2025

⚠️ Yesterday, MPs rejected Amendment 40 (formerly Amendment 130) - a change that would have ensured stronger, evidence-based safeguards for wildlife and protected sites.

While this is a big setback for nature here in Cornwall, the response from our community has been incredible. So many of you heard our call and contacted your MPs - and that gives hope. Thank you - and thank you to all the MPs who spoke up for nature in the debate and voted in support.

The Bill now heads back to the House of Lords, where there is still a chance to put vital protections back in place.

We'll keep up the pressure and continue to be a voice for Cornwall's wildlife and wild places - nature needs us all to keep going.

🦡 URGENT: Help protect badgers and wildlife today

IMPORTANT EDIT: Amendment 130 in the House of Lords has been renumbered as Amendment 40 for the Bill’s return to the Commons tomorrow.

We urgently need you — and all your friends, family and fellow wildlife lovers — to email your MP today (Wednesday) to ask them to support Amendment 40 (previously called amendment 130) of the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.

The Bill returns to the Commons this Thursday, 13th, and without Amendment 40, badgers and other protected species like hedgehogs, otters, water voles, dormice, red squirrels and more could be put at serious risk.

This isn’t streamlining. It’s sidelining science and the law. Nature is the solution — not the scapegoat.

What to do now (it takes 3 minutes):
1. Download our template letter
2. Find your MP via WriteToThem
3. Email them today and ask them to support Amendment 130 in full

Backing Amendment 40 keeps species protection within the proper licensing system, supports responsible development, and safeguards nature.

It takes just a few minutes to copy our template letter and send your email. Please do this one thing today — for the future of badgers, and for nature itself. 🌿

At this time of year as darkness closes in earlier and earlier and leaves later and later, our wildlife is at danger on our roads.
Hedghogs when threatened by an oncoming car instinctively curl into a ball.
Rabbits with oncoming headlights instinctively freeze
Badger when sensing a potential threat will turn , face the threat with their distinctive black and white "mask" and fluff up to look intimidating.
All of which are no protection from a 2 ton fast moving vehicle.
Please when driving on roads bounded by open spaces, fields and woodlands at dawn, dusk and darkness, slow down and watch out for our precious wildlife.

DEFRA MINISTER CONFIRMS END OF BADGER CULL 🦡

Angela Eagle MP, Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs, has announced the culling of badgers will end at the close of the 2025 season. This follows a recent public petition which prompted a parliamentary debate.

The Government is now developing a new, science-based plan to tackle bovine TB - focusing on cattle testing, movement controls, farm biosecurity, and badger vaccination. A huge step forward for wildlife and effective disease control.
