A little bit about The mighty Maximus!
Max was born on 6/22/2017.
He just celebrated his 4th!!! Birthday.
He had a wonderful family that took care of him for a little over 3 years of his life. He lived inside and was deemed "a couch potato but energetic" by his humans.
On 5/28/2019 He was diagnosed with a grade 2-3 Luxating Patella. (which is a genetic disorder in which a dogs knee cap pops in and out of its socket, sounds painful right??) His humans did what they could to try to keep him happy, healthy, and still enjoy his life as much as possible since the diagnoses. They knew they weren't able to pay for the surgery and give him the care/recovery he would need afterwards. Dad got a new job and knew his recovery was going to be tough to uphold on his end while working 60+ hrs a week.
Ultimately in early April of this year they were at the end of there rope watching him "suffer". They didn't want to "re-home" him with medical issues and knew it would be hard because of his breed already. They were going to make the toughest decision of all and end his life.
A co worker and myself who have known Max since he was a tiny puppy just couldn't bear the thought of this. The owners did not want this ether but didn't see any other options.
So we stepped in and took over custody of this sweet handsome man, his previous owners were over the moon excited. We knew it would be tough getting money for his surgery BUT we knew we had the time and would find a way! He has since been hanging out with us enjoying his life as much as we can give him being at a boarding facility. Max is truly a sweetheart who loves his belly rubs and deserves the best out of life!
