I want to thank everyone who came out to the Poker Run and Fish Fry on Saturday at the Gnarly Gar Marina and Bar, to support some of the local animal rescues, including ours. By participating and donating you are helping to care for the abandoned and unwanted animals in the area. It was great meeting everyone and was such a great time. I'm so thankful to Tanya and Jay for hosting and putting this all together. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my Tender Heart. 🐾 🩵

This sweet, one blue, one brown eyed, cutest underbite baby girl, is ready to find her forever home.

Ellie, is 2 years old, has had basic obedience training, and is housebroken. She can be dog selective and would do best in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere, getting all the attention to herself.

Because of the generosity of so many people and their pledges and a wonderful foster who was following this sweet girl's fate of impending euthanasia, we were able to pull Luna from Bradford County Animal Control on Thursday.

She is settling in well at her foster home and getting all the love and care that she deserves. She has been to the spa yesterday and the vet today.

Thank you to everyone who does their best for these animals every day. 🐾 🐶

A quick late reminder to make arrangements to keep your pets secured, preferably inside crated and medicated as needed for upcoming fireworks.

You have tomorrow and possibly Saturday to pickup meds from your vet. If benadryl works call them to ask appropriate dosing for tablets. Benadryl tablets are cheapest I've found at Dollar General!

Know even if your pets have done fine before, they can become stressed or scared easily. I know of someone who's dog took off to never be seen again, as well as, another dog that took off and ran more than a mile into traffic and was hit and killed.

So, please, if you care about your animals, please make arrangements now, for where you will keep them safe and how.

Pet Supplies Drive: I would like to gather supplies to take to a sister in rescue over in Steinhatchee, where the hurricane has impacted the area so badly. A Hound to Hold, Inc. NonProfit Rescue is based in Steinhatchee and in her first year has done so much for her community. She even helped communities down south hit by the hurricane last year. Let's get supplies gathered over here on the east coast, north and Central Florida to take over to her in the upcoming week.

If anyone can look through their own supplies (leashes, collars, bowls, carriers) and donate anything you're not using, as well as, pickup any canned food, dry bag food, for cats and dogs, I will come pick it up from you!

Let's help out our fellow Floridians on the West Coast, help keep their pets safe and fed while they're trying to clean up and rebuild their community.

LOOK AROUND YOUR YARDS AND IN YOUR SHED/SHOP/BARN!!!

If anyone has any of the following laying around in usable condition that they would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated:

-Farm gate any size from 8-16 feet
-Walk-thru style gate(s)
-T-posts
-Water trough(s)
-Rolls of woven wire (not welded wire) field fence (any kind can be used)
-Rabbit wire or hardware cloth
-Metal roofing pieces
-Leftover decking boards, 1x6 rough cut boards, or pressure treated 2x4s etc.
-Mighty mule electronic gate opener or any other items that go with the system

If anyone has a small shed to be used for feed/crates/animal supplies, please let me know and I can make arrangements to have it moved.

Gift cards to tractor supply or purchasing items directly from them for pickup at the Palatka or St Augustine locations are also greatly appreciated.

*A receipt for a charitable donation can be provided for a tax deduction on your 2023 taxes.

*Community service hours can also be performed at the location to satisfy Court Orders or High School/College Credit requirements. Please message me to discuss.

After an entire lifetime of picking up strays, dating all the way back to elementary school when I snuck a kitten in the house, in my backpack, hiding in it mine and my sisters room, then out in the playhouse until my parents caught on about a week later. Then on in to my teenage years, pretending dogs had just showed up at the house. "Oh look! A dog is in the yard, can we keep it?" And into adulthood stopping every time I see a stray dog to try to catch it, putting food out for feral cats, pulling from rural kill shelters, transporting various animals to vet appointments, fosters, rescues, forever homes and no-kill shelters, 100% out of pocket; I am HAPPY TO SCREAM THE ANNOUNCEMENT I AM FINALLY A 501(c)3!!!!

Selling my home of 10 years in St Augustine has paved the way to purchasing the land, some fencing and a camper to live in, so that I can continue to do what my heart has always been compelled to do for animals.

I have big plans. BIG ONES! But starting from scratch, I'm not calling it zero, but a clean slate. There will be a lot of steps in this process and I can not do it without the love and support of my friends and local surrounding communities!

With all of that being said, any donations are so very appreciated AND TAX DEDUCTIBLE. So if you or anyone you know, would like to support an animal refuge for a tax deduction, I ask you to consider Tender Heart Animal Retreat & Refuge, Inc.
